I always pronounced it poo-teen and that's how I was taught when I first moved here. But since you live in Ontario, and Ontario for some reason is more Canadian than the rest of Canada (I've never heard anyone from another part of Canada say 'aboat'), you may be right.
Poutine is okay I guess, though I still would rather have mashed potatoes with cheese and gravy on top. |
I lolled at this post.
It is a french word.
I am sure a lot of french people would back up the correct pronunciation being "poo tin".
Ontario being more Canadian? That sounds silly... but ok. |

I live out West
I'm not the first person to say that about ontario, either :p I think the proximity to detroit and all the americans edge ontario into a kind of culturally defensively mode of thought where they're more nationalistic and whatnot. i had more 'multiculturalism' bull shoved down my throat going to school there than I saw anywhere else in the country |

The idea of gravy, cheese, and french fries combined genuinely excites me almost as much as sex.

jazz festivals clearly call for three day drinking binges with horrendous hangovers. So blues. |

| Poutine was the choicest selection in the cafe in high school. I remember many a romantic moment sharing a poutine and chocolate milk with my bf out in the courtyard. Mmmmmmmmmmm, good times. ing love poutine. |
