I bought 7 litres of that and it cost me $167 with 15% OFF!!!! What a crock of . Luis, let's do some group buys of this stuff. I'm sure we could pick it up for 1 bill, if we tried hard enough.

thats all i know...i have to go to bimmersport in brampton (great shop there) and see how much i can get it for from them.

For that price, why don't you guys do it yourself? Cases of that stuff is cheap at Costco.

That was my initial thought process too. I just walk into CanTire, get synthetic oil, and walk out a happy man $30 later. But mine is a basic 1.8T engine, whereas I'm guessing their engines need better motol oil.

On the other hand, I never really thought BMW engines are THAT finicky nowadays that you can't just use any synthetic oil. The old BMWs would run on olive oil if you made them. :p How the times change.

Yeah, the horsepower, compression, RPMs, engine temps, etc. keeps getting higher. :(

Or is that REALLY what they want you to believe? Totally successful marketing? Feeling part of the club?

if you have a problem with the motor and bmw finds out your using non-approved oil. they can void the warranty.
so going to costco isn't an option...plus they don't have the oil.
doing an oil change is pretty easy. been doing since i was 16 on my dad's car.

Well, I am pretty naive, I'll give you that, but all those forums with carbuffs can't be wrong! Some people know their stuff and that's what they say! Besides, I was given that advice from a Honda mechanic (and a close personal friend) what business would he have trying to help the oil companies or push Honda's advice?

When I had my Prelude, he even proposed that I use Lucas Oil Additive which he did in his race bike, and I actually felt the engine was revving much lighter over time. These oil thingies actually work! But BMW doesn't allow you to put any of this stuff in because, as Luis said, it voids the warranty.

And I'm keeping my car on its extended warranty! ;) wanna sell it in 3 years and get something better! ;)
