| I've heard a lot of people talk about what the club looks like but what about the music......isn't that the reason for going to a club? |

i can listen to music and drink at home, i go out to have a good time. |

agreed....but part of having a good time is enjoying the music. The surroundings are important too but for me personally if I don't enjoy the music then the night will end pretty quickly.
I can't wait to check out Circa but I'll wait till I hear more reviews about the music over what it looks like. |

A few people made small comments on the music. Sounds like it's very mainstreamy and not very good. |

yeah this is also main reason why blipvert and I aren't going there tonight.
not in the mood for a huge lineup, expensive drinks PLUS we don't even know who is spinning tonight.

music in the main room was there to try and please a more general audience imo. i thought they did an ok job trying to please new comers and give regulars to the scene something aswell. i heard everything from a remix of flash dance's maniac to green velvet's lalaland. it was trying to set the mood, and that was to just go with it, you know? totally fun oriented.
from what i gather the nights themes will always be changing and when headliners and different dj's start showing up on the roster things will be a bit different. |

My mini review from another thread:
Went to CIRCA tonight.
Interesting evening to say the least, started off with a mad rain, while hiding from the rain at a bus stop, spoke to some people, they said there were a million people lined up at CIRCA. Once the rain subsided, I made it to circa, line up was 10 people Guess the rain took care of business.
I was in at around 12:15, not super packed, but quite a lot of people. Night started out good, then someone pulled a firealarm at about 1:30. The soundsystem went down, and there was nothing but the sound of the alarm for like 20 minutes. Not too great. Then at around 3, they started closing all the rooms. At 3:20 there were 80 people tops in the mainroom, and everything else was closed off.
I said it, and headed to funhaus.
Overall, decent club, but a ty night, due to the alrm, and early closing. Music was alright. Nothing to rave about, but did get you moving. |

Using your logic, why EVEN go to a club? A club is not the best environment to be out with friends, unless you are going to a club for the music. Based on what you said, there is no point in going to a club as you can have a "good night out" with friends chilling at a parking lot near a Timmies.

But that's North America only. Have you ever been to Amsterdam, or Berlin for example? The drinks there ARE cheaper then Toronto, and most other North American metropolitan cities.

It's such a typically Torontonian (and also North American) thing to go to a club for any reason BUT the music.
Yeah, it's true people go to clubs to have a good time, but the point of a club is that you have a good time BECAUSE of the music and the atmosphere the music brings. There are other reasons for going to a club, but the MAIN point, purpose, and reason for a club is the music, at least that's how it is around the world outside of North America.

That's the vibe I'm getting from the club. Seems like a club that will be full of celebrity nights and invite-only parties, but I'm just speculating. We will see in time what the club actually becomes. |
