Frankfurt for the win. Something I'd open a set with but nevertheless I heard it last night.
He opened with Armed which somewhat defined the cliches. However, he thru down some very nice tracks throughout his set but overall the flow was lacking. Not a fan of his mixing style and I think far too many loooooooong buildups; definatalely a trademark in his productions.
The night as a whole was just OK. Nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. Shout outs to my boy Mista Morton. Good to see you groovin' despite leaving on short notice. Also shout outs to TA's I met... Jackie, Steffan, Darren (I think?) and of course Catalinae :)
Hesitant on whether or not to hit up Circa or 11 Anniv now. mmmm Cox, Mau5, Tommie, and hopefully 2 hours of classic Ferry.
Definatley leaning towards Guv 11.
Last but not least thanks for the pic Shaya!

| I don't know what is up with all the negativity in this review, maybe eirc is serious about his work he came to do the guv to do a job and imo he got it done i don't go to parties to interact with a dj (don't get me wrong it does add to the night) but in the end it's all about the music. I almost didn't make it out to this due to a mix up with rides but i was a trooper and got on the last bus out of k-w because i knew if i missed this i would have to kick my own ass in the morning. I do agree his set wasen't anything out this world but it still was a great set I enjoyed every minute of it great tracks good flow nice and 'crunchy' at times all i could ask for. I think people just set the bar a little too high for him and they over hyped the night since it was way over due. I'll definatly see him again but i do really hope he playes somewere then the guv main room i think the drink would have been much better for him. Even though i was feeling very anti social last night it was still great seeing everyone <3! |

| I was very impressed with Mark Oliver. Very strong local resident you have here. Really enjoyed his set and the energy he brought. Looking forward to his opener tonight. |

This is the first time I am writing a review for a night at the Guv. Eric Prydz. Well what can I say. One word: disappointed. Anyone who listened to his essential mix earlier this year would be very familiar with his record selection and mixing from that set in March and what we heard tonight. I know a lot of people were looking forward to the show tonight, but I really felt that there was no energy from Prydz what so ever. Even at the end of his set when they did the shout out, he did not acknoledge the crowd when they were screaming for him. Then literally he took a few photos with some resident Dj's on the stage and was out the door literally 5 minutes after the last track he played ended. There were about 20 people screaming for his attention after his set and he didn't even so much as flinch or wave or anything. God complexe if I have seen it. It just seemed like he had no interest in being there and was more of an obligation than a privilage to spin on the haloed tables at the Guvernment. If he does come back to Toronto, I will not be dropping the 20 bones to see him again. Now I'm sorry for writing such a scathing review, I know a lot of you out there like him, but IMO it was a disappointment. Please don't be to harsh in your replies to this. Night rating: 5/10 |
Your review sounds alot like the first time I saw PVD. :nervous:
I left about 3:30ish (family obligations), and he was alright. I dug a few tracks, but nothing amazing... maybe there was just too much hype?? |

Drinks are much better outside of Ontario. The other provinces don't seem to be as bad ;)

^^^ That is exactly why this non-beer drinking American basically gave up drinking when I moved to Canada. |
