But now have to get negative, what is up with the drinks in Canada? Honestly the worst thing I have ever experienced. I dont know if we are spoiled in California with well poured, strong drinks,

Sacramento is one of the most prominent cities in the drink-pouring industry. Being spoiled is putting it mildly.

How much does it cost to be hog-tied and spread-wide by some long and strong San Francisco street meat?

yep that pretty much sums up my night and yes I think there is hype surrounding his name but I think for all the right reasons if you have been following his progression as an artist you know what I mean. He may not be the best DJ but he's an amazing producer no questions there.... I had fun :)

hands down an amazing night.

for what my review's worth, i went in this with the highest expectation of music...not dj performance, but overall delivery of a dj/producer style. and for me, prydz delivered.

got there before midnight, Guv was half empty...lol...dana berquist was playing some interesting tunes later on, nothing too phenomenal (wasn't expecting it), then hit the gallery for the dirty beats. loved it. (who was spinning in there? vinyl junkies?)

then the call for arms (literally) came at around 2, and we all filed into main room.
the brief stoppage i thought was because of a technical difficulty (the projections went out too as far as i can remember).

either way, to describe the overall set, i'm glad he played for that long (was sort-of expected)...enough tracks to please the crowd, and proper (fitting) inserts of Pryda productions...hell he played Teaser which for me was a gift since he doesn't usually drop it in his sets.

also, playing RYMD for the ending selections was, i think, the cherry on top for the night.
for me Prydz is a headphone kind of producer/dj...the subtleties (and minimalism) of his tracks MAY not work too well in large venues, but he guides the overall set in a nice, flowy direction. as for him ignoring the crowd...can't say much. he spun TO the crowd once or twice, but that night (for me at least) wasn't about prydz->crowd. it was prydz->music->crowd.

vibe-wise the night was excellent: met a couple of TA's (first time doing it too), the whole group i was with loved the overall vibe of the set (which i gather is the general consesus here)...it's true that some of my friends weren't blown away by the night, but the opinion stayed that it was a musically rewarding night.

enough for me to keep wearing my pryda shirt proudly.

everyone's opinions aside (mine including), i hope that all these reviews won't put people off from seeing him. it's definitely worth that $15/$25 ticket price.

p.s. did anyone recognize the vocal acapella he layed on Armed?

i liked his set, it filled my needs for progressive house... he did get REALLY fast around the middle of it which was kinda cool but weird, one of the tracks had a fast rhythm that i could only describe as tech trance :conf: but it was disappointing that the crowd wasnt into it at a lot of times! it reminded me of steve lawler in june, a good set but i guess their styles arent hard enough for the average guv'er.

mark oliver's closing set was wicked, he went on a dubfire style techno streak! does anyone know the ID for the track at the end with lyrics "such a freak, such a in' freak"?

big up to arsalan for getting all these sick shots of prydz on my camera!

Well, finally, I made it to write my own review. I have a tendency to not post on weekends, but as soon as I come back at work at the start of the week - my posting spree begins ;)

Tyson, Serin, and I got to the guvernment around 10:45. It was dead and we couldn't even make it to the main room untill midnight, since we came through the drink. It was empty, but at least Serin and I had a chance to shake our booties to some hip-hop ;-)

Finally we made it downstairs, and I had a chance to show Serin around, since it was her first time at the club. Later on, we ended up meeting lots of TAs. So, it was great to meet all of you. Sorry, I am really bad with names or faces, and it will take me a while to remember everyone...he he

Then, Prydz started spinning...Overall, the night was amazing. I had tons of fun and was very happy to meet so many new people. I really enjoyed Eric's set, even though he was all business about it and hardly ever looked at the crowd. I think it's the Sweedish thing though, since people from the North have a tendency to not make eye-contact or smile. I am still very happy to actually see him play, since I could only dream of him coming here last year. The highlight of my night was MAGENTA! I wish he would have played it with vocals, but it was still great.

Anyhoo, as I said it was awesome meeting lots of TAs. You have to add me to facebook now, so I can remember everyone better. Just search Sasha in Toronto network. Hopefully, we will meet again soon!!!

Prydz's set was mediocre that night, but all the people there made up the night. Great partying with you guys, and I love the outfits that Stefan and Knox wore lol.

Does anyone know which version of Timbaland - The Way I Are Prydz played that night?

I think someone mentioned it in the Ottawa review thread on the Montreal boards.

Some dub remix. It was actually quite catchy.
