The poll is not a matter of skill. It is a populartiy contest.. hence why PVD, Armin and Tiesto are always on top.

Any poll is a popularity contest when you let the general public vote. To the DJs, being in the top 5 could be very profitable for them....and for their manager/agent.

right.. they were cleared of wrong doing.. thats up to each person to interpret their own opinion on who is actually guilty and isnt(doesnt matter).. what really matter now is that is their 4th/5th place rankings are gone because of it.. i will bet you they both are not top10 come next week

remember this is how they were ranked 4th and 5th.. “In both their cases, a script was used to bypass our security system,” said Roberston. “Not only did we get multiple votes from the same IP address, but we got multiple votes from multiple IP addresses — in other words, we received in excess of 50 votes from the same IP address on over 20 occasions."

i dont mean to argue back with all you peeps but im only attacking but when u attack me lol,... u just need to seriously take a look at the situation when the djmag results arent being scured and tampered with dj dan and christopher lawrence will not be top 10 and im sorry if you cant accept it all

<3 plur?

Right. Please reread your post history in this thread and try to say that again with a straight face.

And the point is that nobody actually claimed that he legitimately earned a #4 spot - simply that he's a good DJ nonetheless and is often ranked pretty high, just not in the top 10. It's you and a couple of others who have been harping on and on about how he really sucks the big one and has no accomplishments as a DJ since 2004 (or ever, according to some people).

That's the part that's incorrect. He is a very committed, hardworking, and dare I say talented DJ; he's just not as high as Armin on the popularity scale. The fact that cheating occurred is not in dispute. The fact that the DJs themselves weren't directly at fault for the cheating should not be in dispute either; it's DJ Mag's contest, and if the evidence was good enough for them, it should be good enough for you. But if you want to believe that they asked this manager to cheat for them, fine, you're entitled to your opinion.

Just don't keep saying things that are plain wrong, like he hasn't released anything since 2004. And don't fling childish insults at anyone who decides to point out that your facts are in error. If you can do that, then by all means, PLUR on.

stop trolling im done talking to you..

re; disqualified

they're names were cleared by djmag which means the 'normal' voting/ranking should show up minus the 20 different ips posting 50 votes each.

Well from about a week + ago cl and dans myspace indicated their names had been cleared of any wrong doing, so I assumed they would be included in this years vote (excluding cheated results) but i just got the djmag newsletter and the second item is

"Named, shamed and disqualified!
In an unprecedented move, whos been booted out of our Top 100 DJs poll? More >>"

so for 'clearing' their name of wrong doing they're doing a good job of making them look stupid ..

You assumed wrong. When I cheat on a test and get caught, I don't get marks taken off on the questions I cheated on; I get 0. When a sports team gets caught cheating, they are not reprimanded just enough to make it seem like they never cheated - they get disqualified out of the competition. I really don't know why you'd think DJ Mag would just subtract the cheated votes, and let the cheaters go on their merry way.

Now who looks stupid?

Maybe because he assumed it was a 3rd party who cheated? Your cheating examples were primarily the individuals who got caught cheating, not someone on their behalf unknowingly.

Not that I agree that they should still be allowed. Technically they should have done a better background check or something when they hired the said individual and should be disqualified from this years competition.

From his earlier posts in this thread, doesn't seem he's putting too much emphasis on the manager's involvement in this. I think it was him who was insisting that CL and DJ Dan knew they were cheating.

In any case, 3rd party or not 3rd party, their manager represents them, so anything that the manager does is automatically considered to be done on their behalf. An example that I can bring up is that if an employee of UPS gets drunk and runs over a child while making deliveries, UPS gets sued, not the employee because the employee represents UPS. In this case, the manager is the employee, and CL/DJ Dan is the UPS.

Edit: and the last reason that assuming that the DJs won't be disqualified is silly is that the DJs are under no obligation to fire the manager for the wrong doing (it's their choice), and DJMag can't disqualify the manager from the DJ Rankings (duh), so really, the ONLY punishing action DJMag could have done is disqualify the DJs from the poll. Anything less, and it would have made the poll even more of a joke than it already is - DJMag would be pretty much making the statement, "hey, we don't care if you cheat, we'll just subtract the cheating votes, and you won't even get a slap on the wrist. We're really laidback like that."
