it will only get bigger (and that's proven, 325,000 votes this year - holy cow) so you can keep fighting it but it will always be there and until you get past all the enormous amount of $$ these DJ's and agencies spend on marketing will the MUSIC side of the music BUSINESS emerge. |

what do you really know about the scene? my guess isn't much. think about the $$$$ given to these DJ's for being the #5-6-7 whatever. Lets say RJT you paid DJ Dan $25,000 to mix Ultra's latest mix compilation full on knowing that his marketing level (that being #5) would grant you around 100,000 in CD sales over an 18mos time frame. well , you paid the #3 DJ for his name and now what?
or
RJT you own XYZ promotions, two years ago you paid DJ Dan $3,000 for a gig at your clubs. Then 2007 hits and you're now paying him $20,000 for DJ Dan who is probably still pulling the same crowd size.
Wouldn't you feel taken advantage of? and that's just two examples. |

More often than not that had to do with people completely ignorant as to who DJ Dan was making baseless assumptions about him that were completely wrong.
That being said, this is without a doubt the point on which myself and others will have to concede most to the masses. A bit trite, but hey, if that's the kind of victory you're happy with, well then congratulations on all your success.

The people who WANT it to hurt Dan and Chris Lawrence's careers are the ones who keep saying it WILL.
They hope if they repeat it often enough it will come true.
There is nothing like kicking a man when he's down, that's my motto.
Unfortunately they are only talking to about 1% of the people who go out to clubs on these boards. Most clubbers will never even hear about this, nor would they even care. |
