Bauhaus as far as alternative rock tastes run.

as far as electronic stuff - Pink Floyd.

lulz. Why Pink Floyd?

Explain instead of just dropping a name.

Pink Floyd used quite a bit of studio effects that are commonplace today in electronic music. Noise, feedback, loops, samples, synthesizers, etc...

No reason to laugh.

They always incorporated the latest electronic devices (synths, studio hardware) in their productions... not to mention the epic song structures.

I can't really say I agree with him but I can see why he'd say that.

Each generation has many who can influence people. to do one 'ever' would just be a bit silly. Some bands to add to the list, imo however, in no real order, would be (and I don't like all of them :p)

beatles
Zeppelin
Iron Maiden
Guns n Roses
queen
pink floyd
nirvana
rolling stones
oasis
blur
muse
radiohead
red hot chili peppers
foo fighters
R.A.T.M.
Underworld

To pick one would only stick to my tastes & not include those equally qualified.
