worst night EVER that ive experience IN toronto. WOW.
left the venue at 4am... SNOW MADDNESS in toronto. UGH.
Took well over 45 min to get a cab to take us from Queen and Bathurst to only Bloor and Avenue.
Cabbies either werent out, or werent stopping for ppl!
we had to agree to pay a cabbie 20$ to get to my friends place.
my other friend who left before us at 3am, they waited like a ing hour and a half before they finally flagged down a pizza delivery guy who saved them and agreed to drive them home! LOL
I then had to proceed to drive back my other friends place in North York with her from Yorkville.... CRAZIEST most insane drive ive expereinced this far south in the city.
one hill on bathurst that was just after an intersection was almost my bane!! ........ what a drive, i was so exhausted after we made it to her place that i litterally passed out cold! |

| After Saturday night/Sunday morning, I am so happy I spent the money on a good set of winter tires. Made all the difference. That and carrying enough momentum to plow through some of the snowbanks. |

..Intense snow squalls developing this morning and not weakening until Tuesday..
This is a warning that snowsqualls are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.
A major winter storm from Colorado is moving over eastern Ontario. This winter storm will continue to bring widespread snow and some blowing snow over cottage country to eastern Ontario.
Regions over extreme eastern Ontario including Ottawa and Gatineau will continue to see snow today however the heaviest snow will move out of the province by early this afternoon. Total snowfall amounts of 25 are possible with Ottawa already having received 21 centimetres as of 9 AM this morning.
As the winter storm moves into Québec very strong northwesterly winds will generate intense snow squalls to the Lee of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. These snow squalls have already started to form and they will continue to intensify during the day. Due to the very strong northwesterly winds the snow squalls will extend inland at times as far as Woodstock Brantford Kitchener and Guelph. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 centimetres per 12 hours are quite likely with lesser amounts of 5 to 10 centimetres possible further inland. Sudden and frequent whiteout conditions from blowing snow as well as bursts of heavy snow will be a serious problem from these snowsqualls. The snowsqualls will start to weaken on Tuesday and become a bit more confined closer to the lake as the winds diminish somewhat.
There is the possibility that some of these snowsqualls can briefly penetrate even further inland and reach areas such as the greater Toronto area tonight. Travellers are advised to use extreme caution when travelling in these areas as the snow squalls can produce zero visibilities in bursts of heavy snow and blowing snow along with very slippery road conditions.
Additionally strong winds have developed near the northern shoreline of Lake Erie from Long Point to Fort Erie and also and over Prince Edward county. Shoreline communities will experience sustained winds to 60 kilometres per hour with gusts to 90 kilometres through much of today. |
Its already blowing around like mad again, and its only going to intensify as the afternoon goes on!!
Not to stop till over night. WOW... what a start to winter!

i want mine!! :( I sorely missed then sat night. :whip:
think im getting them for xmas now bc of what im spending on my trip. ill hafta be extra prudent til then and tough it out. |

On the lighter side.... by bro sent me this from another province....
Two guys from Toronto die and wake up in hell. The devil stops in to check on them and sees them dressed in parkas, mittens and toques warming themselves around the fire.
The devil asks them, "What are you doing? Isn't it hot enough for you?"
The two guys reply, "Well, you know, we're from Canada, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy for a chance to warm
up a little bit, eh."
The devil decides that these two aren't miserable enough and turns up the heat. The next morning he stops in again and there they are, still dressed in parkas, toques and mittens. The devil asks them again, "It's awfully hot down here, can't you guys feel it?"
Again the two guys reply, "Well, like we told ya yesterday, we're from Canada , the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy
for a chance to warm up a little bit, eh."
This gets the devil a little steamed and he decides to fix these two guys. He cranks the heat up as high as it will go. People are wailing and screaming everywhere. He stops by the room with the two guys from Canada and finds them in light jackets and bucket hats, grilling sausages and drinking beer. The devil is astonished, "Everyone down here is in absolute misery, yet you two seem to be enjoying yourselves."
The two Canadians reply, "Well, ya know, we don't get too much warm weather up there in Toronto so we've just got to have a cook-out when the weather's THIS nice."
The devil is absolutely furious, he can hardly see straight. Finally he comes up with the answer. The two guys love the heat because they have been cold all their lives. The devil decides to turn all the heat off in hell.
The next morning, the temperature is below zero, icicles are hanging everywhere; people are shivering so bad that they are unable to do anything but wail, moan and gnash their teeth. The devil smiles and heads for the room with the two Canadians. He gets there and finds them back in their parkas, toques, and mittens. Except now they are jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming like mad men!!!
The devil is dumbfounded, "I don't understand, when I turn up the heat you're happy. Now it's freezing cold and you're still happy. What is wrong with you two???"
The Torontonians look at the devil in surprise, "Well, don't you know? If Hell's frozen over, it must mean the Leafs have won the Stanley Cup." |
