The boredomechill factor brings the temperature down to -40 though.
Should be a nice transition for you coming out here from Victoria; even coming from Vancouver the partying is just way better here.
I still miss Van though! | yeah for sure, it'll be a huge shock the first winter, but I grew up in Poland where we had -30s every winter and i remember loving it.
Plus, I am a skier, so i spend a lot of my time up on the mountains. Couple winters ago it was -36 when i was up in Kelowna and it was ridiculous! haha
I can't think of a single thing about Montreal that I will hate.. Except maybe the language barrier sometimes, but it will come with time. |

| learning a new language isn't supposed to be a barrier, but opening up to a new culture and a new tool for your career. |

| One of the things I liked most when I came to Montreal was the french. Granted I had done 12 years of french immersion, but it had withered into next-to-nothingness through lack of use in vancouver. |

well, it will be a barrier for the first little while when i don't understand things, and as normal humans are, i will probably feel frustrated (i know, because English is already my second language and i remember when i didn't understand people). But I am not saying I can't wait to learn French and embrace the cultural difference!! (if i wasn't open to this idea, i wouldn't be moving to a province that has a different language).
And with that being said, i only have 6 years of French classes, a while ago.
Vancouver has pretty bad crack heads, it's really really annoying, and it's true: the rain never stops.
Victoria has some horrible crack heads too - that's because it is really warm and they all come to hang out in the warmer places (even if it rains a lot).
Do you guys find that during the colder seasons (winter, and almost winter) the crack heads disappear? |

Hmmm, Amanda got all wet:tongue3
Port cities that are warm always have that problem (drugs, bums, etc). Just wait till u meet crackhead skid who begs in French.. that's when you know you're officially in Quebec:p
Vancouver gets great weather in July, Aug.. by far the nicest city in Canada .... when u can see it;) |

| There's a trend in Montreal, summer = hobos from all over Canada (it pays to beg on the streets, there's so many people), winter = much less hobos, and they spend their days at refuges for the homeless cause its so damn cold. |

The bums in this city rule, I paid one a dollar and they gave me this 5 minute long speech about the secrets to life.
I think that bum still frequents Atwater metro, should go check and see if she's there.
Also, the weather here isn't all that bad, it's not unbearable at all.
As far as the language barrier goes, just watch the hokey games in French and you'll catch on pretty quickly, or watch the news in French. |
