we used to play hide & seek in there, until my friend Dan got us all kicked out because he sat on a fishing tackle box and broke it.

I think going to the movies is more of a social experience because pop culture made it so, rather than any other logical explanation.

Still, I'd feel pretty damn awkward and weird going to see a movie alone. I simply won't do it. Those who go and don't feel awkward/weird, well, great for them, enjoy it.

For me, the fact that the nearest decent cinema is 30 minutes away on car, kinda made the whole thing unusual to me. For some reason movies don't appeal all that much to me neither, maybe it's that I'm saturated by all the Hollywood crap that comes up on TV, and the cinemas are all full of Hollywood crap. I probably went to the cinema only about 10 times in my life. Like about twice with my parents when i was a kid, once or twice in school visits, five or six times with friends... and that's it.

I am the exact same way (my other half HATES scary movies).

I've only been to one movie alone. Event Horizon. Perhaps that is why I haven't since. ed up movie... even worse when there are only a few other people in the theater at that time.

Do you go to movie theatres (or "Cinemas", if you want to call it) by yourself? ever seen a movie you wanted to, but no one else did so you just went alone?

my housemate just got back from watching Beowulf. i kinda wanted to see it; but he didn't even ask...he just upped and left, and came back some 2-3 hours later and said he did.

I thought it was a bit odd that he went by himself. considering he's living w/ someone of the same age bracket.

me personally, i've never gone to the theatre by myself; and i don't really want to. it's much more fun/enjoyable w/ people.

isn't movie going supposed to be a social event?

thoughts?

I've been going to the movies alone since I was like 12...since when is sitting in a big dark room not talking to anyone a social experience? I hate waiting to see something because I have to coordinate things with other people also why wait until something comes on DVD to see a movie because nobody will see it with you when you can see it in all it's glory in the theater?

I think you need to stop worrying about what your roomate does in his free-time, Tubularbills.

If I am presented with the opportunity to go to a movie with somebody, I will. For the most part though, I go to movies alone and look down on the people who are so socially inhibited, they just couldn't bear to be seen ... alone!!!! :nervous:

hell yeah ill go alone. going to the movies has to be the most unsocial social thing you do anyway.

i went to multiple viewings of THE prequels by myself.

i suppose. it really doesn't bother me that much. i was just curious if other people did too. especially if the opportunity to go w/ someone was there. i mean, if a buddy of yours said, "hey , wanna go see [whatever]?" would you answer, "no, i think i'll pass. i want to see it alone."

meh

Well, I mean, between this and his video game playing, I just don't see why you seem to talk about him so much. >.>

guess its cause i haven't really had a roommate in quite some time (may of 06 when i moved out to shreveport).

we're all different people....guess it just would have been nice to live w/ someone who has more in common with me.
