| Which one do you have. PS3 counts, HD-DVD add-on for Xbox 360 counts. |

| I don't have either. I'm waiting for at least another year before I decide. |

Neither, but I plan to go blu-ray because I work for Sony.
I guess it really is true, half of the dvd market knows nothing about either High Def format. |

yeah... i think it's just for fanatics or people with money to blow.
My wife will watch the normal standard channel, when the same thing is on the HD version of that channel, she don't care. |

Standards are still emerging. Triple-layer was recently approved for HD-DVD, putting it at 51 GB, right there with Blu-Ray. Yet none of the players on the market today will support it. It's still too early to tell.
In the mean time, I'll just download 720p and 1080p x.264 rips of either format, and just output those to my hdtv. optical media (for now). ;) |

But i think Sony is actually going to win this one...
Its kind of a no brainier data wise...
I might by a blue ray DVD burner just to back up my data, not really to watch movies... |

I can't seem to find x.264 rips where they kept the 5.1 Digital audio. Tey are always just Stereo or Dolby Pro Logic II.. Which sucks, cause the Video looks good!
I have found WMV-HD with 5.1 intact. |

If you shop around, you can find deals on HD-DVDs for as little as $12 and $20-$25 for TV seasons. Just keep an eye on slickdeals.net or something. |
