DJ Eco came on early and was throwin down some good trax. Next up, Martin Roth. The yr 2004 called, they said they want their tracks back. There was liek literally 1-2 good tracks in his set but the rest was ehhh. Overplayed commercialized trance that almost every body has heard at one time. Im sure if he would have played longer than 2 hrs he could have showcased some better skills, but honestly, his set was wack(since Steven Neil wanted an honest opinion :p ). I actually find myself listening to how do u say, RAY-GHEY-TON during his set in the room next door cause I couldnt stand the classic anthem trance tunes. :wtf: Now up to the man of the nite. EDDIE MOFO HALLIWELL. Non-stop banging tracks with some of the sickest mixing I have seen in a while. Place was just bouncing up and down when he dropped some of those sick basslines. From watching him up above, all I will say is he has some fast fingers and honestly, he was like multi-tasking like 10 diff things in order to create the effects, I guess in some ways similar to Jeff Mills(well Jeff Mills is in a league of his own but u get the point here). Only issue was when the music went dead(happened 2 times early in his set) due to technical difficulties. Stayed til about 2:45AM and left cause I couldnt stand the crappy crowd and all the nonsense of partying with ppl shoving/pushing. Overall, id say if I was to check out another "TRANCE" artist in the future, id prob go see Eddie again. He is def. not ure run of the mill Armin Van Boring thats for sure. ;)

P.S. Nice meeting AY STAR and chimera also. See guys, I dont hate trance, I hate CRAPPY TRANCE. LOL, AY STAR was asking me what type of music I liked. Im like its not a particular genre, but rather how good it is compared to the rest of the tracks out there. I could care less if its electro, minimal, techno, house, trance whatever. Bottom line is the track has to be good. Simply saying Im a trance or house head is kinda BS cause not all house or trance is good and to limit ureself to one genre is kinda lame imo.

WOW! I had a blast!!! Such a good night! Soooo glad to be back in NYC and see lots of TAs :) I'll write the review latter, but here is the summary:

Eco - I came several minutes after you finished ur set :(
Martin Roth - surprise of the night!!!
Eddie - great set & mixing, seemed to be really tired (Wai mentioned that he's hurt?!?)
JOC - I was expecting more of his djing, considering the fact that he's one of the best producers at the moment

In the meantime, here are some photos. I also have 10 videos, but I am too lazy to upload them on youtube. If you know another easy-to-upload service, let me know!

not all music is created equal - nor are DJs, but you can bet on PMS. paying $30 a the door just to hear Eddie is not okay. No punt intended Eco.

Yea, and thats why it was in empty last nite. LOL. Should have been free b4 12 with $20 after 12 but thats me. Funny thing is when a few of the kids who came to the hip hop party where liek damn, I cant believe we gotta leave. Is it 2 AM already ?? I just paid $40 bucks to come out to the hip hop room(there must be liek 5 million other clubs playing the same exact crappy hip hop with no cover charge in the city). This sucks. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. $40 for EDM is a lot. $40 for hip hop u might as well get Jay Z to come to the front of ure stoop with a 40 oz. malt singing u songs. :p :D
AY STAR

I had an awesome time! People are probably going to think my good review is only because I was involved, but try to see beyond that.. There was like 40 people during my set so I try to thinkn of myself as minimally involved, last night hahahaha.... Man, I had an amazing time, DJ Quick not sure how much of Martin's set you caught, because I think most of us heard something very different. He played about an hour and a half of tech, minimal, dark , and about 30 minutes of "classic" stuff, but keep in mind they were HIS "classic" tunes, a few big productions people know him by ("energize" by Technopunks is one of his aliases, as well as his other originals/remixes, "shockwaves", "this is the last time", "off the world", and his remix of "intuition")... not to sound partial because he and I are friends, but I took a backseat and really listened to his set, and along with the people around me, some of our jaws were dropped just listening to it... I don't have to give a review of Eddie's set, it was just that amazing, if you know, then you know... John surprised me too, he was very good, mixing was flawless and he played some bangers!!!

All in all, I was surprised at how well everything was going. Granted, I couldn't have been more opposed to the prices (something I myself was complaining about with Made Event just two weeks ago), so I hope that didn't put a damper on anyone's night... But I had a blast and thought it was one of the better parties at Avalon I've been to: wasn't 70% filled with cracked out kids and FOBS, I thought the crowd was one of the better ones I've seen... If a club is overcrowded, people (as well as myself) complain and say it sucks... If there's a little room to dance, people complain and say it was "empty"; can't please everyone I guess... With half-arm-length of space, I couldn't have been more comfortable and "in the zone" as I was last night, great party!!

PS: I picked the wrong time to do tricks. Right when they opened doors and a bunch of TAs came in, it was the beginning of a three-channel jam session that was slowly falling apart, a la' Jeff Mills (Calderone vs. DJ Dry's"let me set you free" looped over Antix's "blew" over Haak's "outsider') hahaha.... I managed to barely save it but yeah, I was horrified that that was the first sound people got while coming in, but I hope I picked it up for you guys..... Also... GEEEE MONEY!!!!!!!!!! That's all I must say.
