thats odd... i find it to be the exact opposite. the older 90s stuff sounds alot fuller and beefier than todays music to me. even with the slick production todays music lacks something in comparisson |

The thing you forget isthat the majority of the people @ a club or rave have never heard these tracks. Only a small % have ever heard them, yet alone know the name of the producer or name of the track. Tranceaddict type people is so small compared to the regular masses of people. I also give cds when I play to the people with allot of clasics on them and the majority have said they have never heard this type of quality from any other dj they have gone and seen. Djs from my point of view play to much filler and crap. I have noticed that the popular/big djs that are successful hardly play any filler and just play amazing tracks. For me Armin use to be like this in 2002 but now plays crap the majority of his sets.

I just gave you a taste of a type of set that I can play. I usually mix it up with newer tunes but my sets at least have 50% of classics and 50% new tracks. I also play house, & techno classics in my sets. There is so much good classic tracks that it would be a shame not to play and introduce those classics to the new people @ clubs and raves. |

you're misunderstanding me:
this dude jesus apparently has been playing all old tracks presumably since they were released, since he said "this is what I usually play"
so I'm saying, if you're playing regularly (ie for the past few years), people are obviously not going to want a jesusisgod 'usual' classics night every night...
i completely agree with and play plenty of old tracks in my sets - but you have to be a person of your own time! Just playing classics makes you boring.
but as for your other comment, did you not take into account at all that i wrote "depends on the crowd"? I know the crowd I've been partying with in Roma knows, and the crowd I mostly party with in NYC would know even better.
There is of course a clueless scene filled of post-PLUR out there but i try to avoid it |

fair enough, i've personally haven't gone to enough EDM events to experience crowds intelligent enough to make these kinds of observations...all i've experienced are people getting wasted and just wanting to dance their asses off and not giving a about what's being played |
