you dont need to master it. just do a good mixdown and throw a limiter on it. if the label wants to sign it they will do the mastering themselves. unless its a ty digital label.

i think you're wrong... if you're trying to go for a major label, you're competing with the best. you ought to put your best foot fwd especially if you don't have a name in the scene.

if you believe in your track, put your money where your mouth is because you'll recoup your money when you sell it to them.

yeah but to what man? some small digital label? thats fine, we've all done work for such but if you're going up against the best producers in the world you won't have a freakin chance if your sounds small.

i'm sorry its true.

i have to agree, if you think you need to hire pro mastering you just suck, and you're suck will shine through even after mastering.

mastering wont make a mix sound good.. you need to hire an engineer to mix AND master if you wanna sound good.

all my fav producers do their own mixing and mastering.. deadmau5, pryda, trentemoller..

you're looking at it wrong. mastering is an art all in itself. do a test, prove me wrong... 'master' your own track with a limiter. then send a 'nothing-on-the-master' mix to a profssional and see if you hear a difference.

and btw we're not talking about mixing right now, we're talking mastering and it can make a good tune sound awesome.

p.s. we went over this i thought, eric prydz uses a mastering engineer.

Same here. Perhaps something before and after would be nice?
