Ok, so after all the responses to this thread, I've come to some conclusions. The reasons why I haven't had a good time at CZ seem to be nonexistent, mostly just in my head. The main thing was that I felt unsafe there, because it's such a shady place. From what everyone is saying though, I gather that this isn't really the case, and people tend to mind their own business. I also didn't know about all the different areas and what each one means (boys town, gangster row, etc). That helps a lot.

I definitely will give it another shot sometime soon, to see how it goes. Hopefully not on an expensive day. If it doesn't work out, then whatever. I just hate the idea of missing out on an awesome party for stupid reasons.

Go with TAs if you don't feel safe or worried about the sketch

its true. a lot of its in your head. but def dont want to be vulnerable when youre there. some of the sketchies see that and like to prey on that. for ex. some of the gay guys like to prey on the straight guys, just for s and giggles. i just dont like the asians cuz of my bad experience with them. its always in the back of my mind, so i avoid chinatown. im usually on the right side or in the dj booth. just mind your own business and you'll be fine.

I haven’t been to the zone since August 2006 ... damn its been a while.

Its a fun place, but you have to make sure that you go with open minded people... cuz that is precisely what will make or break the experience for you. If all your friends are positive and are having a good time then so will you, but if your friends are scared or cant get loose then they will drag you down a slippery slope of CZ paranoia.

my girl and i wont go out anymore saturday nite- we'll just go to cz sunday morning.

unlike the clubs in T.O there is no pretentiousness, no attitude, no drunks with attitude.

everyone is on the same page and are there for the MUSIC- the best in the city.

if you're looking for somewere to go and stand around in your versace dress shirt, drink vodka- redbull, look cool and try to pick up chicks, then stay the at home, cause cz isnt about that.

as for the gangstas- have you ever interacted with them, or do they just intimidate you because you are stereotypical? one of the nicest guys i have met there is one of the 'gangstas'- we would never hang out outside of that place, but he always treats me and my woman with respect.

if you want somewhere to go to listen to the best beats in the city, with the best assorment of dj's anywhere, where you are not going to be judged or are going to judge others and just want and hear music, then there is no better club in the city.

if uour looking for anything other than that, stay home- please.

I wouldnt say hes Jesus. Most guv patrons wouldnt deny why they are there. The guvernment is just as bad as the comfort zone, but the guvernment is also quite different from the comfort zone in other respects and thats why they cant be compared. The zone is considered by the heads on this board to be some kind of mecca and im just saying that it isnt.

You are completely missing the point here. It's not that zone is 'some kind of mecca', although it kind of is, it's the reason you go there. CZ is a club for people who genuinely love the music and not the idea of being seen or trying to pick up. That's why the music is always so good, the DJs know why the crowd is there and they feed of the sheer energy of the place. I agree that it can be shady and there is trouble to be found if you're looking, but who goes there looking for trouble? It's all about the music, baby.
Zone is for the hardcore fans, not the rest of the riff-raff that pack the Guv to the because it's stylish.

They are quite open. I have been to the comfort zone. I have given it more than one chance. I make these posts because i loving clubbing, house music, and this city more than anything.

If it's not your thing then there you go, problem solved. Just don't claim to understand it because you obviously don't.

NIFTY!!!!! If you're going to give cz another go, jump on a roll call and arrange to meet some TA's there. Besides being really cool people, they'll put you well at ease and allow you to get into the right headspace and feel what that place can do to you - sober or not.

M&S are amazing. but youre right, they do recognize that they have to play to a zone crowd. They realize that the zone crowd is made up of add cases and kids who were 'special' growing up. In effect, there sound is somewhat dumbed down, you might say, more accessible and usually just non stop pounding.

Her nonprofit work is probably served as some kind of atonement for all the terrible things she does and to make herself feel better about going to the zone. you know, kind of like how all you guys get defensive when you talk about going to the zone. Like: 'i go sober', and all of that. She probably spends 24 hours a weekend at the zone and then justifies it by telling everyone that she does work for charity.
