Are employers/bar owners in Cali allowed to include expected tips in an employees salary? I know some bartenders in Cali who make BANK because they are lucky enough to make over the Cali (or SF City) minimum wage and then get big tips on top of it. Not sure what the laws here are, but I'm curious! |
California state law does not allow 'tip credit'. Minimum wage is $8/hr as of 1/1/2008.

I was kinda looking forward to carrying it into June and December, say around the time of the next Giant massives... :( |

Oh how I love to read peoples opinions!! Such a variety of madness. Thank you for that.
I had a fantastic night! Yeah the typical cost (ticket, drinks, etc.) involved is always a joke, but we all know that going into it.
I felt that the set up was done rather well, better than last years event. The music overall was typically what I would expect. When Tiesto opened the night with Traffic I knew it was going to be a great night! The pause in his set definitely was a buzz kill, but overall I thought he did a good job under the circumstances. (IMO) I believe he was told to throttle it down to keep the animals under control.
So all in all it was a good night for me. The vibe, crowd, and atmosphere was very positive and I walked away with a smile at the end of the night. And for me thats all that really matters! |

| Lee Coombs, Sasha and John Digweed and Ferry Corsten were incredible at the LA Sports Arena. What a great vibe. After reading this thread, I'm so glad I choose the DJ legends over the commercial letdown machine that has been Tiesto. |

| Tiesto is like gambling; 1-in-7 odds he's going to have a winning night, IMHO. |

Exactly! Last time I hit the lottery with Tiesto: August 2005 Tiesto in Concert at the LA Sports Arena. Seems like so long ago. |

| ^^^At least when he does, it's a pretty big win for trance fans. But eesh; I can't imagine putting up with six "bad" anythings in my life just to get one "GREAT!"...and when he's bad, he's REALLY bad. Not much in-between. |

| I love it when Tiesto plays house and progressive. Usually at the beginning or end of his sets. |
