Hmmm... although I deeply respect Moe for everything he's done in his short career... I believe Maher is more experienced and thus better suited to open for Zabiela..

Both great DJs and just my .2 cents

You should start saving those cents and see moevalith at least once.

You'd be surprised. :)

I just want to bring to everybody's attention that when you are talking about local DJ's, you are not talking about an object. There's strong human feelings in consideration.

These guys LOVE you, they play FOR you, and they READ you. Every word has strong impacts in their personal lives. Good reviews, bad reviews, support or non-support, are difficult things to manage. I know.

As entertaining as it might be, you are turning yourselves against each others, and probably DJs (and maybe friends) against each others, for who should open a night at Tribe. Like that stupid vote contest for who should open for PVD.

There's tons of things that can influence a booking. Politics, promesses, money, marketing, talent... and ultimatly it never ends up to be the one you expect.

I read many harsh things recently on DJs in this forum, at the end of the line, they are only people working trying to entertain you.

I bet Zab would love to play along side a producer whos work he spins and obviously likes. Talk about some "similar styles"!
Moe has incredible talent...and has worked hard to get there. This would be a perfect night and a perfect DJ for Moe to open for.

Definitely no comparing going on here...but Maher already had his turn :p

I VOTE MOE :toocool:

*Much respect to the above post...very very true*

this is a good point.. you guys don't get paid headliner dollars and probably get told even moreso to temper your styles for those headliners that you open for. Fabi took a bit too criticism from some here, shouldn't have, imo.

Now, if they start paying 30k for your gigs.. well.... :p

both great djs... both great producers... both will go far

I'm voting Moevalith on that one. True; Moe hasn't been that exposed to the spotlights and never really had a chance to show what he's capable of compare to Maher who, for me, is already a superstar :p

Right now friendship, music or even personal taste aren't relevant for my point. I think we have 2 guys here; One is already a well accomplished person, with years of experience as a club/after DJ and already well-known internationaly, with dozens of great releases of every kind and I've heard, other cool events coming up; and on the other hand you have a young guy, with years of intense practicing that mixing became a joke for him, and who worked so much for the past 6 months that Nightlife Magazine showed up at his last event.
If you ask me, Moe deserve the night. Not I'm criticizing Maher in any way but I think Montreal would never have any regret by meeting Moevalith.

For those of you who'd say that Maher's music would suit the night better, remember this; One of your task as a DJ is to fit the night and adapt the music and flow to the mood of the club, crowd and wishes of the headline DJ. I've seen Moe mix on plenty of occasion, I also had a chance to look into his cd cases  and I can assure you this guy means business when it comes to playlists.

So true but we should all be able to have an opinion on what we like and don't like.

If anything we have a problem with people who believe they are above criticism.

I know a lot of people who play music, some of it I like, some of it I don't, but I know when I speak about their music that's where it ends. I don't want anyone to get butthurt because I don't like what they play.

I know a lot of people who might not like what I play but I don't hate them because of it. We can all better ourselves, no one here is perfect and let's face it, we'll never please everyone.
Ravemontreal
Of course, if my post came out as anti-criticism, it wasn't the point at all. It's not about having an opinion and freedom to express it.
