what martin said is exactly right, and this popularity act on opening DJs is getting old and stupid, not one factor decides who should open up for who....
many things are taken into consideration.... |
Yes but it doesn't hurt to respectfully voice your opinion on who you believe should, and deserves to, open. Especially when it comes to Zabs.
These are e.d.m. discussion forums after all. |

I'm surprised to see such an uprise over the opening act, but I guess they are the ones who get the party moving and in the mood for the headliner.
I am sure that whomever the promoters choose, will be great. There are so many factors to consider, and you can never please EVERYONE. |

| This just shows how much talent Montreal produces in electronic music...and it also shows that we really do support our locals, whoever ends up spinning @ Tribe for Zabiela. Homegrown talent, banging bookings all over the city, some of the most famous parties in North America, crazy soundsystems, etc. its all great. Good luck to both DJ's. see u on the 28th. |

| Sounds like it's going to be a sick night, esp. if Moevalith opens for him; poetic justice considering he was number one on Zabiela's April top ten chart.... can't wait! |

The opening DJ is wildly important. When I saw Sasha in Vancouver last Christmas, Kevin Shiu opened for him and played a set of Bore-Prog, which is exactly where Sasha picked up when he got on, thereby wasting the first 1.5 hours of his set transitioning out of it. 3 months later at Tribe, Spooky opened for him and were playing a banging assed set of wicked proggy minimal electro madness, and when Sasha got on the decks after them he kept the energy high the entire night and blew away the previous performance.
That said, the calibre of local DJ in montreal pisses all over that of Vancouver. I'd happily party to only locals 3 nights of the week for the next 6 months, such is the talent pool we have in this city. I could draw random names out of a hat and come up with a solid opener for Zabs.
So let's get back to what's important: bottles of vodka bitches and James Zabiela bitches. |

lol, I can attest to that too. Mind you, whomever opened up for Benassi at Plush was much better than Benny himself :p
they don't give Van and Ottawa the same stuff they drop in Montreal :( |

| I get what you are saying Sean, and more than understand your example as I saw digweed and Sasha with Spooky as opener the 28th of dec. here in Montreal. the question of having Moevalith open is of importance, before bitches and vodka bottles, whatever your priorities are. For me, it's all about music and always will bhe. And I know for sure Moevalith is the logocal opener for Zabiella, he's the only Dj from this local scene that has a sound energetic enough to open for Zabiella, yet keeping it were it should: minimaly mentalist. I like to think, as I already mentionned, that Moevalith topped Zabiella's April chart. There is a reason for that, and it,s about kinship of sound, which is what an opener should be booked for in the first place: set the tone of the night. Peace |

Ok, lets cut the crap.
Disclaimer: I love Moe, great DJ, great producer, great guy all around.
Same as Maher.
Fact is, Maher goes to Tribe often, Moe (I believe) has not been since Zabs was there last time, and I believe at the time it was still called Myst.
Maher and Zabiela are friends, and Maher listens to Zabiela's promo mixes as well as chatting him up frequently enough to know pretty much exactly what he's playing at any given time.
Zabiela has played Maher's music as well.
Also, Maher has proven to the Tribe guys that he knows what to play between 10:00 and 12:00 to get people grooving before a big head liner.
This is a retarded pissing contest, and it should not have been one but Nick and Hakim seem very "militant" about this and I don't know why.
Personally, I dont care who opens between Maher and Moe, I think both would do a great job. In fact I hope it IS one of you two that does open and not some other DJ, but the odds are overwhelmingly stacked in Maher's favor on most accounts.
That being said, what would be cool is if Moe could open for Zabs, and Maher open for Fanciulli. |

Whoa whoa, when I say bitches I don't mean it in the sense of girls at the bar, I'm simply referring to the rest of you as bitches. If I want girls I go to Rouge, when I want music and drinks I go to Tribe. |

At the end of the day what will be will be and I highly doubt it will have anything to do with what's going on here.
