Ron has my vote....America needs someone like him. He's more intent on focusing on the issues WITHIN the US versus what everyone around is thinking/doing.
I really like his viewpoints on health care....maybe now people who aren't working in giant corporations can get some decent health care!
He wants to put education back into the state's hands and abolish the useless department of education, give tax credits for both parents and teachers.....the educational system does not need to be funded or controlled by the federal government, that's just way too many children, schools to focus on and properly fund and regulate.
Plus Dr. Paul voted against the Real ID Act in March of 2005! |

If you look at South Korea and Japan, their education system is being run by the federal government, and they turn out really freaking smart kids. (certainly when I left Korea, the fed govt controlled practically all aspects of education, to even where a teacher teaches)
US education system may be incompetent, but I'm not sure if giving it to state level control will do much to solve the inadequacies of US education system |

Their national standards and tests have been a disaster. Schools were put under such stupid constraints if they did not meet minimum requirements, that a lot of the poor school started cheating and even more children continued through a broken system.
Basically what RP is saying is that sure the federal departments were a great idea, but their execution was so bad, they need to be scraped. His entire philosophy revolves around the fact that the US used to be amazing before the federal government started getting their nose into everything. Why not return to that old way which created the super power that is the US of A?
His reasoning of why the fed does not work? A) Too big, too beauracratic, too inefficient. B) Vested interest, and back room deals. He truly believes that you can get rid of these super power officials and billionaires by cutting their legs out from under them. Cut the very departments they hide in, and steal from. |

Not really... he just said that evolution is a "theory" and that he's not convinced either way.

| Anyone who says "evolution is just a theory" is plainly ignorant. I'm not saying stupid, but yes--certainly ignorant of what a theory means in scientific terms. Not that it really matters much in a candidate anyway. |

It matters to me in a candidate. I don't know exactly what his views are on scientific advancement but if doesn't believe in evolution because it's "just a theory", I'm not sure what other kind of "theories" he'd be willing to look into. How about stem cell research, etc? I'll look it up anyways, been sick recently so the last thing on my mind has been RP but feeling a little better now so I guess I might as well.
To the TAs that said they would support RP: What if he's not elected to be the Republican candidate, what if that person is Mike Huckabee? Who would you be inclined to support then? Would you support Huckabee over Obama simply because you think the US is not ready for a coloured president? :conf: Considering the victory he got in Iowa for the Republicans, Mike Huckabee might well be the Rep candidate. |
