Yes in Canada, Ireland and elsewhere you have universal healthcare, but what are the waiting periods like for operations? My wife is a nurse and sees Canadians comming down for basic operations in Chicago all the time because the waiting lists are so long! Plus where is the money for that gonna come from? Tax the rich? I work for rich people...most of us do! So if they get taxed more it will umbrella down to our pockets as well!

In Belgium we have a general healthcare system and we don't have problems with waiting periods. There maybe a threat for this in the future, but that would mainly come from foreigners (from Holland, UK) who come to Belgium for certain operations because they aren't very well served in their own country.

God help us if one of these socialists get elected. Government by the government, and for the government... thats what is boils down to.

The only thing these democrats are about is robin-hood syndrome. Take from the rich, and give to the poor. In a nutshell, its a legal way of buying votes. They dont give a about you pee-ons other than your votes!

Sorry, but why are people rewarded for doing nothing with their lives, while the people that do have to float the ones that really should be thrown out on their ass? And WTF is with giving money to people who ARENT EVEN IN THE ING COUNTRY LEGALLY? Oh yeah... FUTURE & FAMILY VOTES!

Am I the only one who sees these people writing laws and changes, making promises they cant keep and dont care about- seeing as once your in the club, you dont have to play by the same rules anyway!?!?!?

Give me a moderate republican, please. Smaller Government without the bible-thumping bull. , give me an independant.

I hate politics. I am buying an island.

Haha, scare tactics. Leave Iraq, leave the middle east. Go home, save money, save lives, and leave people to do their own business. Sound's like a recipe for success to me. It will not have instant effect, but hopefully over years, decades, and generations of non-intervention, maybe opinions will change, and these fundamentalists will loose will to attack, because they are not being attacked.

"Leave people to do their own business."? Yes, lets pull all the troops out of Iraq so that the Islamic-Extremists can claim victory as the USA runs away with its tail tucked between its legs. Lets leave them to their business of taking over Iraq and mass-producing anti-US, anti-Israeli propeganda and brainwashing the children into hating the USA, and everything the US stands for (see: freedom of speech, religion, etc.) the way other nations have done. And remember, hating the US extends as far as hating all Western (actually, all non-Muslim) states. Lets leave them to their business of planning attacks on Western nations and killing more of our civilians. Lets just get the hell out of their so we can focus on health care and education while terrorist groups bolster their ranks and become ever-more powerful. Ya, that's a in GREAT idea .

Get a clue. The USA pulls out of Iraq and every insurgent group in the country will be rallying their troops in celebration of their victory. Osama bin Laden will be releasing tapes mocking the USA and speaking to the fantastic victory achieved by those who would defend their land from the infidels. Misled youth across the middle east will FLOCK to the 'winning' side. These guys don't need to win this war, all they need to do is not lose.

The fact that the Iraq war was started on falsified information and was more or less a total " You, I'm finishing my daddy's business" from George Dubya, doesn't change the fact that NOW, already involved in the war, the USA can't afford to just change their minds and leave the country to fend for itself. If the US can't finish what they started, we'll be 10 times worse-off than we were in 2001. The US will have achieved nothing less than handing the nation over to someone who's even more dangerous than Saddam ever was.

The only thing worse than taking over a people's country to liberate them, and the war continuing for years until the nation stabalizes... Is letting the war go on for years, then saying " this, we give up" and leaving the country in shambles while you cowardly tuck-tail and run back to your country to fix education. You're no longer "The bastards who started this mess but are now trying to fix it." You're now simply, "The wads who ruined our country." How many generations would it take, in your mind, before "The USA raided our country and ruined our lives because Saddam was a bad man, just like they do everywhere else" works its way out of the public mind?

Do I have a better option? Or an idea of what the USA needs to do to win the damn war? No, but I at least have the common sense to realize that simply pulling their troops out and leaving Iraqis to fend for themselves is the clearest WRONG answer there is.

As for the race. Forget that he's black, the people would never vote for a candidate named Barack Hussein Obama, aka. Iraq Hussein Osama.

"I'm voting for Iraq Osama, 2008!"

Actually, I think he makes the best candidate for the White House, and I would vote for him. I like his chissled features and deep, dreamy voice. ;)

As for the theory of evolution, it's only a theory insofar as it pertains to the creation of the earth/universe. Evolution as a basis for species survival is FACT, and most Christians who've done proper research recognize this. However, the fact remains that somehow, somewhere, everything had to BEGIN. Something had to happen that said "Ok, life can happen, and the Universe can exist." It's fantastic that scientists believe that a single-celled organism eventually evolved into dinosaurs, monkeys, dolphins, trees, etc. etc. But what created that single-celled organism? Scientists say life began in the water, what created water? What created the land that holds the water? What created the Sun, the stars, the whole universe? Answer that question for me, and prove it, and you might very well become the most famous, if not also the richest, person in the world. Maybe you'll come back at me screaming "BIG BANG, BIG BANG". I'm cool with that theory, it has tons of evidence to back it up. What caused the Big Bang? What created the dense piece of mass that eventually turned into the universe? It wasn't random chance. Random chance is chaos, and chaos begets chaos. But our universe is ruled over by rules and regulations, order. Chaos can not beget Order. So spare me your secular arrogance as you peer down your nose at those who believe in Creation. We have a stronger foothold than your misled scientists ever will.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of having to point this out ;)

Their national standards and tests have been a disaster. Schools were put under such stupid constraints if they did not meet minimum requirements, that a lot of the poor school started cheating and even more children continued through a broken system.

Oh, I agree that SK and Japanese system has its faults.

But last time I checked, their kids are still ahead of a lot of Western nations. They must be doing something right.

Basically what RP is saying is that sure the federal departments were a great idea, but their execution was so bad, they need to be scraped. His entire philosophy revolves around the fact that the US used to be amazing before the federal government started getting their nose into everything. Why not return to that old way which created the super power that is the US of A?

His reasoning of why the fed does not work? A) Too big, too beauracratic, too inefficient. B) Vested interest, and back room deals. He truly believes that you can get rid of these super power officials and billionaires by cutting their legs out from under them. Cut the very departments they hide in, and steal from.

Decentralization also has its own faults.

Are each regions needs (meaning, kids are so different from state to state) that there needs to be separate standards for each state?

I agree that too much centralization means too much for fed department to handle and not enough attention given to each state, as well as not being fully aware of each state's needs.

My solution is something in the middle.

Let the federal department set the stardards. One standard for all states.

But let the states decide how to to meet those standards. This allows each state to adjust how a subject is taught in each school, to meet any special considerations that may be present

(I also may be talking out of my ass :p)

It wasn't random chance.

I don't think any scientist researching the origins of the universe holds the belief that it was created by chance. They just don't know how it was created; they're pushing forward theories, but they don't know. Similarly, people didn't know how lightning was created either, but we eventually figured that out.

This is where you stop making sense. How is random chance chaos? What do you mean by chaos anyway - is our universe chaos or order right now? Chaos begets chaos? But chaos can't beget order? What begets order then?

Hahahhah. Oh my. I'm guessing the bolded statement refers to the creation of the universe. In that sense, both the creationists and the scientists have an equally poor foothold cause they both don't know for sure. The difference is though, that the scientists admit to not knowing, and spend their time trying to turn the unknown into known. If we had none of those "misled scientists" that dared to say that God is not the answer for every question, our state of technology today would be in a very sorry state.
