I agree with you on the set. It was good, not amazing. I do have a problem with your assesment of the place though. I certainly understand that places will get crowded especially for a dj this big. I also would understand someone accidently bumping me as they passed or bumping me and then realizing they need to watch it. The problem is that the same people kept knocking into me and didn't have the courtesy to step off me. I had a guy, who had plenty of room around him, practically leaning on me until I finally gave him a push. I also had a girl who kept swinging her arms like a fool and she kept hitting me. You'd think after hitting me once, she'd realize maybe she should watch it, but no. I understand some people like to dance and that's fine. The bottom line is, if you don't have room to do your crazy arm swinging dances without hitting people while you're doing it, either go somewhere else or stop. Respect the people around you is all I'm asking and it seems none of the people there understand that. |
I have felt the same way too but one thing that you have to take into consideration is the fact that the majority of these people are so ed up that they have no idea what is even going on. ahahha |

And that just worsens my opinion. |

It's true though. There have been a couple of times that I got pretty aggressive and when I go to look at them one eye ball is looking at me and the other is rolling around. ahahahah |

| well heard pvd tore it up in NYC friday night. Its a shame you almost have to goto a Roseland ballroom show to catch him when he is on point. Too bad this year it was so close to WMC |

Yeah, I understand that and I think that's a problem all in itself. I don't understand why people have to get totally wasted at these things. I believe that people who are looking to get wasted on alcohol or drugs should go elsewhere. Don't come to an event where people are paying good money to see a big dj and ruin their good time. I'll never forget the guy high off something at the Ferry show who had me scared because I didn't know what he was going to do. I'm all for having a couple of drinks, but get the drunks and druggies out. And if any of you are in that category, it's nothing personal, I just don't think there is a need for all that.
But back to the show itself. I went over and looked at the reviews for the New York show the next day. It sounds like they had a great show there. I won't say I regret spending 40 bucks for an hour and half set, because I think it was worth it. I just wish I could say it was epic. I still think Paul van Dyk has it, we just caught him on a night where he wasn't at his best. When he comes back, I will still have high expectations. |

Hey, as the occasional clubdrunk, I offer my apologies. Not all of us are scary and violent when vodka-enhanced. It's the angry drunks who give us a bad name.
I can see your point, though. I recall a few occasions when the opening DJ bored me, so I'd wind up drinking more than expected, then blacking out during the main event. ("Well, at least I vaguely remember having a good time ...")

Yeah, I'll reiterate general consensus here: it was good, but not spectacular. And to the haters complaining about the general club experience -- the expensive water, the crowd, the chaos -- I agree with euroq. It's to be expected at any major event at this kind of venue, so why can't we just chill and get swept away by the chaos and enthusiasm?
(Yeah, it was especially packed for this event, though. Glad the Opera staff didn't seal off the two other areas, like they sometimes do.) |

Dude we are all paying the same amount of money to support not only the dj but the scene. If you want to have a couple of drinks while doing so I dont think that there is any shame in that. Don't knock the booze to soon. |
