+1. I've been really happy with my V700s, although my next pair will probably be a V6 of a 7506.

Skullcandy = bad sound quality :(

What the else are you paying all that money for?

A good set of headphones. Sorry if I don't step on my headphones enough to prove your point.

I used a pair of the Technics cans (rp-dh1200 I think?) the other day...they were sitting in the booth at a gig, so I figured what the hell, I'll try them out. And I was very surprised! When my V700's finally wear out, I'll be getting the Techs. Very good quality and MUCH better isolation than the V700's. I haven't used the 7506's so I can't comment on those.

I've had a pair of HD-280's for oh, two years or so and they haven't had any signs of cracking, even though I've heard it's a common issue. I'm fairly gentle with them and don't toss them around, but I do fold them. I've heard folding makes things easier to break, especially on the v700 and the HDJ-1000.

I'm currently using a pair of Equation Audio RP-22X, which are silver. They are a bit chunky since the angle of the cup/headband connector basically means the headband will be stretched out somewhat flat when wearing them:

Here's a bigger picture of the cans themselves. You can search for RP-21, which is pretty much the same headphone but with different color. I should point out that the RP-22X was designed as one with emphasized bass, and has a two-layered earpad to help focus the lows. The double earpad also means it rests on your ears, which was very uncomfortable for me. I ended up getting some replacement earpads, and the headphones work nicely. I can't really comment on the sound quality too much (no real reference), but I do enjoy them and use them for listening and DJing. The RP-22X is slightly above your budget, though. They can be found for ~$110, but you may decide to replace the earpads, which would possibly be an additional 20-30.

I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DJX-1's coming.

These have an advertised MSRP for ~$170, but can be found for $130. Again, also slightly over your budget, but from what I've heard are really good headphones.

As someone else mentioned, Ultrasone is also a solid buy, but may be a bit beyond the $100 budget. In any case, if you're already satisfied with your v6/7506, you could always disassemble and paint them silver.

To be honest, I wouldn't focus on looks. I did for my first pair of headphones and I could have saved the money I spent on them. I later got the MDR's and can say they are the best investment I have made in headphones for the price they are at.

If looks is what concerns you the most when you spinning, well... misplaced priorities?

I agree, misplaced priorities.

I forgot to mention that something I look for in DJing headphones is round earcups. The oval ones may fit better when you're wearing them on your head, but are a bit uncomfortable when they're around your neck and you mash one side to an ear. The tradeoff is that since they're round, they're more bulky when around the neck.

Why does someone always feel the need to go for the "only the music matters" sorta line in every thread?

He's asked for QUALITY silver headphones, i.e. he's asking if there's a model that both perform well and look good... if you can have both, then why not?

You don't go into a clothes shop and walk round with your eyes closed and your hands out in front of you in case the look of your clothes might influence whether you get the warmest ones - you want clothes that will perform their purpose and hopefully not make you look like a twat at the same time.

Having said that, I use HD25s, which certainly aren't the coolest headphones but the sound quality's solid and they fit my head exactly how I want them to. But that doesn't mean other people can't use headphones that give them a happy medium.

In two years time, I've never had a problem out of my DJ Pro 2000 cans. My only complaint is they feel a little heavy from time to time. Also, bear in mind I mix at most 4 hours a week.

As a bonus, when no one is looking, I pretend they make me look like Tiesto!
