A good set of headphones. Sorry if I don't step on my headphones enough to prove your point. |
Who says you have to step on your own headphones? I've played enough gigs to know that any drunk mother****** can come up knock your headphones over, step on them, and ask you to play some Chingy all in the same movement. |

Sure, and on any given day and given headphone could break when that happens. I fail to see your point here. |

I never said I wanted to sacrifice quality with looks. I'm just looking for a good pair that also looks good. Reading is fundamental people. |

Alright, I'll bite.
So far, the conclusion I can form from reading over the posts is that there aren't very many sub-$100 silver headphones that are on par with the v6/7506.
If you are willing to extend your budget a bit, you open up your choices to:
Technics RPDH-1200
Beyerdynamic DJX-1
Ultrasone DJ1/DJ1 Pro (one of the HFI models is the same; check head-fi.org)
and some that aren't as recommended:
Equation Audio RP-22X
Pioneer HDJ-1000
Stanton *
Denon HP1000 (which is rebranded of another headphone model)
If you are willing to sacrifice some quality, you could get the Sony MDR-v700DJ. These are very commonly used in promotional posters/images of DJs.
If you are willing to sacrifice some of the looks (but retain quality), you could get the Sennheiser HD-280 Pros (silver).
If you are not satisfied with any of these suggestions so helpfully provided so far, you could always spray paint a pair of v6/7506 silver.
Quality and a stylish silver headphone all in one.
And most likely sub-$100, including paint. |

Thanks for your input. I think I'm going with the Technics rpdh1200s. I'll just get pssl to pricematch. I think I've seen them around $100 on froogle. Should fit my range! Gotta love pricematching |

I guess you've never had go down before at a gig. Which is the very definition of gigging.
Either you can go to the bathroom and come back to your buddy sitting on your snapped headphones or you can buy something that has better sound quality AND won't snap when your drunken friends stomp on them accidentally. |

Why would you put your headphones where someone could sit on them?
I think it's less about the headphone itself and more about making smart decisions when to leave your booth, where to put your stuff, etc. It's all about minimizing the risk. Of course random will happen. |

| IMO the best thing is to just have an extra pair of whatever cans you use. |

happens quite often. I've been around a few times when my friends have experienced headphone breakdown. Most notably with the v700s. |

broken headphones ?
tell me about it.
I was playing this jungle party for NYE when the dj playing after me came into the booth to get ready for set and he somehow accidentally got caught on my headphone wire. The wire didn't snap but the headband did.
@#$% pioneer hdj's. |
