Paying to enter a remix contest?

Yea it is a tad stupid, but maybe once they give contest details, and when it actually starts, it might be a free download. Makes sense since it would be unfair if anyone got a headstart.

Yeah - perhaps that's it, and even if it is a "pay to enter" kind of deal, it's not as if $4 is that much. I personally just wouldn't pay it. :p

Hopefully this contest will spawn some interesting remixes though - been waiting for some Emfire remixes to bring life to tunes I think I are kind of bland.

Would actually consider paying some sort of fee to get the bits and pieces to play around with on my own.
Blake_Jarrell
would actually consider paying for stems/parts of all tracks i buy in general.

This, I can get on board with.

Anyone remember where that Hawtin interview that was posted on here sometime last year was from? Where he said something along the lines of the future of dance music being in people just getting cut up versions of tracks/remix parts and effectively creating their own remixes live each night?

Yeah - that would be awesome.

Edit: It might not even have been Hawtin... I just remember reading something along those lines last year, but whomever it was also said they thought it was still a few years out (as far as these kinds of things being available to the general public in concert with software and controllers that are more streamlined).

Hope they get some good remixes. Since the latest Sasha productions have been gash. Pile of crap.

it was hawtin, i think its actually in his www.ableton.com interview. he took it a bit overboard with dreaming about a file type that deconstructs itself into stems and parts though...have fun developing that.

Indeed, and I guess I have relatively no grasp on what that would all entail - but still, the idealism about innovation is nice to see.

It was Hawtin. I remember that interview very well.
