I would agree with you on this if you knew for a fact that anyone has actually done this? Is this just not total speculation at this point? The place has only been open for three weeks.

Well, I think anyone affiliated with a club who posts a review is going to be looked at as having a biased opinion. It's up to the person who reads it who decides whether it's credible or not, really. |

Jon Jon - Hmmm, never say never, right? I _might_ promote in the future (that is, get paid to push a club, or market it, whatever--which hasn't occurred as of yet)...but as of right now, I just don't want to get involved... too many politics, etc. ( I am officially involved with Scenester Magazine, doing some reviews and writing there, but it is supposed to be from the 'patron' viewpoint you described. (btw, going to meet the martinez brothers feb 8th! w00t!)
True enough re: slander on zone. I'll just say it freaked me out, so I took a break. Maybe I'm a softy. And you're right--it's not like it's something specific to zone...same sort of things could happen at say...Guv. My point was merely to say 'since i'm taking a break from zone because of whatever, i decided to check out the basement.' There isn't much else out there for Sunday mornings, right? And yep, I went there as a regular patron, wanting to check it out.
If Addy spins there, I'll be promoting it--but not as a promoter; i'll be promoting it as a fan for the Sunday morning mayhem that he is known for unleashing, and wanting everyone to be there to share in it with me! The location is irrelevant, really. |

It is speculation, but aren't you glad that someone is asking questions?
And what does 3 weeks have to do with it? People don't promote for new club events? wtf

It's a really nice place. It would definetly be awesome to go in a group of people. i.e. a group of TA's or group of friends.
Also the people that work there are really really nice... |

hahaha Put simply, I don't ing believe a word you say. If you're not a promoter, you're best friends with one. Or best friends with one of the dj's or helping the event in one way or another... whatever.
You have (on countless occasions) posted on TA your promoter aspirations. |

So let's set the record straight--The New Basement and LOCO are one and the same... located at the corner of Queen and Bathurst... I think the address is 178 Bathurst? There's no indication of the club's presence except some bouncers at the door and the address on a yellow marquee board above.

I have also recently (this weekend) heard of people referring to this venue as "Black." I am positive it is the same location, just trying to help clear up anymore confusion. |

It happens more than you would think... the boards are mis-used often to drive traffic to imaginary incredible parties that have yet to be established... that's Jon Jon's point and it is fair for someone to call bull if they smell it.
Jon Jon - Total respect, man. And I think I know what you were referring to in regards to promotion--was it Ace spinning at FW & Gallery? Man, I can't WAIT to hear that guy spin. I missed him at his bday gig @ hotel. And yeah... I think I _DID_ use the word 'promote' but i didn't mean in the promoter sense...i meant 'telling all my friends about it' type thing. I gotta be careful with the danger words, lol. |

It was named "Blak" the latter part of 2007. It is the same location - yes. |
