capo tutti di
this is actually really upsetting news...that was the dirtiest electrohouse room....terrible...the guv complex gets smaller now and ppl who didnt like the sketchies in the gallery now get them in the drink lol i think this could really mix up crowds overall at guv

I'm sure that it will still be used for the all access parties just like Orange Room doesn't have hip hop during the all access nights.

While I am sad to see it go as I often found refuge there on regular nights it isn't very surprising with the attendence falling. From a business perspective Gallery MAY have brought 50 extra people to Guv on a regular night and they would have to pay at least 3 DJ's for the night. I'm sure they will go back to seperate entrances like they had when Gallery first opened for the indie rock nights. It will attract more of a drinking crowd. It will expose more people to the rest of The Guv who may otherwise never go on a Saturday night. Remember this is how we spend our free time, how we relax, where we hang out with friends, party, unwind, where we go crazy and get ed up, but it is their BUSINESS. Good business move in my opinion.

I personally am getting tired of hearing the same resident djs (Dekoze, Sidney, Nathan, Carlo, VJ's, M&S, etc.) at almost every club, lounge, bar in the city (Galley, FW, CZ, Hotel, Straight, TIL) . You could literally go out from Thursday night to Sunday night, go to a different place each night and hear the same one or two djs at each place (Hotel, FW, Gallery, CZ, Straight). No matter how much you love a dj it gets old hearing them each and every night you are out. It's good to see some of the newer locals finally getting more attention (jonjon, Matt Schafer, Jeff Button) and we need to push and support the other up and comers (Nuera, Matt Shaw) at every opportunity we have to show the promoters that change is good. Hopefully Acid Lounge will continue to give the newer locals an opportunity entertain us while making a name for themselves in our scene. Without turnover things get stale and boring.

Change is often scary and sad, but change is necessary in everything we do.

Well said Musicsnob_NOT. I talked to Sasha and he said that The Gallery will still be indie rock for all access parties.. why? I don't know.

Ask for alcohol sales, I could definitely see how that is a problem. The Gallery crowd is basically The Comfort Zone crowd. And we all know how much booze they sell at CZ, lol. I'm sure most people that frequent the gallery buy one bottle of water and fill it up in the bathroom the rest of the night (I know I do)

indie rock hipsters FTW

I completely agree with Jay. I think this is a great move. It diversifies the Guv crowd and experience even further. It will be a great way for the Indie kids to see what our scene is like, and a good way for people in our scene to see what their scene is like. It would also be a lot easier to convince some of my non-partying friends to come out to Guv with me. This change, plus using The Acid Lounge for up-and-comers would make the Guv experience a lot better IMO!
