And by the way Armin Van Buuren's State of Trance is awesome, I have never heard so much great music by someone who puts mixes out every week like that. I don't understand how anyone can bash Armin. IMO he RULES!!!!

I think Rubez example of a state of trance is a very apt in the fact that all the tracks are of a very high standard but they just do hit you as being a classic.

Trance may have moved on in the last few years and that's not a bad thing as it has introduced some Varity and new sounds.

That said some of us are still longing for he day of 99 - 03.

The production prob wasn't at the same standard but they melodies were fantastic and true classics were in abundance.

Some of you may really like the current state of trance but some of us are living in the past and have no shame : )

very true, they are technically sound but lack real soul... a bit like german supercars vs italian supercars!

heres a post from another topic>

For 's sake, why isn't smooth dreamy trance like this produced anymore? I admit, I haven't followed "trance" music for the last couple of years, just the occasional glimpse, only to realize it's all too formularic-hectic-cheesy, but...

well whatever, just the one zillionst contraproductive where-are-the-good-old-times-gone / why-has-Okaey-become-crap / 1999-EM-appreciation thread.

feel free to join/flame/hijack.

adios.

i completely agree. trance is what i LOVE. but the last 2 years havent been trance, and i have been living off classics, trance 98-2003 style. i am out of touch with todays scene. if u can call it that.

its either as u say cheesy/generic or that tech/electro guff..

I love all the old trance too, but, I think alot of the trance coming out now-a-days is great, and I have never heard such quality as the tracks and cd's coming out as of late. I don't know what some of you haters are talking about........

CRAZY PEOPLE

did you even take the time to read the article rubez? he mentions off beat basslines and talks about his style and the style associated with most discover artists.. people like YOU make me remember why there was a need for APN. Educate yourself a bit and make a proper arguement.

If you feel like you might actually want to know what your spouting off about.. look for the following questions in the interview:

Q: What can we expect to see from you in 2008? Do you have any special tracks in the works right now? Will we ever see a Sean Tyas debut album?

Q: You work closely with Discover, one of the biggest trance labels in the UK. Do you feel that the fact that you can recognize a Discover track as soon as the bassline comes in restricts producers on the label or is it its biggest strength?
rubez
they have "perfected" it, and it sounds "great" (sounds horrid to me) but in the process it has lost the magic. really stale. too much polish and sheen basically.

a bit more gritty and raw please!

i HATE his sound, and i HATE what he did to all the classics, so im not reading about him. call it ignorance if u wish..
but so was remixing, needlesly all they classic trancers.

personally i hate when u know what label a tune is from just by the feel of it.. worst offender.. anjunabeats. (i hope he didnt say that it was a strength! - but i dont care either way)

For me the quality and clarity make the experience much better. I smoke a bone, throw on Sander, Armin, Tiesto, Markus, anything great that has been coming out as of late, and I just let the electro's flow through every vein, and I love it, and I still get lost in it, just as I did 10 years ago. Only now it sounds better in most cases. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they sounded bad back in the day, I just really love what is coming out now too. Just my 2 cents;)

Its not about calling it ignorance.. its about stating the facts, and ignorance is at the very basis of your arguement here.

Ignorance is the condition of being uninformed or uneducated, lacking knowledge or information.

I dont have anything against you dude.. but in reality people dont hide behind computer monitors and if you ever want to be taken seriously know your facts. Arguements based on uninformed personal opinion do not fare well this day and age.. a time when knowledge is literally at our fingertips. Its sad to see some resisting and choosing to rather spout off an end all be all. If you can figure out how to properly support an opinion arguement then youll be far ahead in life. Dislike whom ever you want, but dont be ignorant, it just invalidates your arguement.
