What really is the main culprit of the uplifting sound? that we hear from artists like Armin van Buuren and the likes of?

I think its the synth!

Whether a track is "uplifting" depends on the melodies and harmonies. No sound or set of timbres is "uplifting" in itself; not even a supersaw.

No problem. You just have to think about it for a bit; you could play a random and atonal melody using a supersaw, some nice-sounding arps, and a cool-sounding bass, but I don't think that would "uplift" anyone, do you?

how bout some xtc??????

is all int the title "uplifting" that refers to the "vibe" of it. so yes i guess it's all in the melodies. you could have uplifting in any genre i guess couldn't you?

I bet someone could make a dreary song with a harp.

i thought they only had certain notes on them?. like say a piano but only the white keys, ya know what i meen?. i could be way off and even with just white keys you could make a downlifting meoldy. either way.... :)

According to Wikipedia, most European harps have strings for each note of the C Major scale over several octaves. C Major itself is a "cheerful" key, of course, but you can use those same notes to play something in A Minor. So I think you could compose a sad harp song.

For me it is choice of timbres to an extent but of course the melody usually with a catchy arp slowly opening the filter and building the drums etc. A great trick is to lift your arp 1 octave higher as you're about to peak the track!!

just call it the "TIESTO REMIX". No matter what it sounds like people will think it is uplifting.
