Learn how to dance...

Okay... I'm not the best dancer out there on the floor, but I can hold my own when necessary. At the ty bars in Winnipeg, there aren't a hell of a lot of guys who can dance, let along walk, with any resemblance to a beat. I can hold a beat and dance with it reasonably well.
However...
I wanna be a hell of a lot better. I watch some of the guys (and the girls too, of course ;-) and they just seem so fluid and easy. Maybe it's just the way my bones have been fused together, but I can't seem to do it.
I know this is a pretty hard question to ask/answer, but...
Anyone got any ideas where I could learn how to dance any better???
I don't know what kind of anser I'm expecting, so throw something at me and surprise me!

mmm...I don't have any tips for you to help you dance better but I think the main thing is just to have fun while you dance and don't care what other people think..If you just let loose and feel the musik, you will look and feel better when u dance.
hope that helps..
or just follow the dancing man down there...lol :D |

Let loose EVERY WEEKEND. (I do :D)
And if you wan't to: Embarras yourself for a few evenings and try to adapt a few movements of someone you think dances really cool. (maybe not a girl!)
Only two ways I know. And then you get your own style. |

Well ... what a coincidence ... I'm offering rave dance lessons for the low low price of $49.95/hour ... don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity ! CALL NOW ! ... hehe
no seriously - the only way you'll learn to dance *good* is by going up to the biggest bass-bin at the party, closing your eyes and just grooving to the music ... that's all there is to it. With practice and experience you'll get better ...

top 10 suggestions
1. pick up moves from good dancers on the floor.
2. come up with a style that fits u.
3. practice @ home, in front of a mirror. u dont know how bad or good ur moves are unless u can see ur self.
4. pick up a sport like swimming, basketball, or matial arts. These and other activities make u more in tune with ur body, helping u flow on the floor, and open u to new ways of moving.
5. stay balanced and use body symmetry.
6. dont over exert ur self. when u get tired on the floor, it shows. take a break or find the baseline and dance to that.
7. dont drink too much alcohol (makes 4 sloppy dancing).
8. if ur dancing with a girl make some eye contact and interact with her. i use a different style when dancing close.
9. use ur whole body not just arms. think about the 3dimentional space ur moving in.
10. dont think 2 much on the floor. react to the music and just do what comes natural. |

Don't think... Just move ;)
And yes, you should look a someone who dances really great and try to copy that style (don't stand behind him and move EXACTLY like he (if you're a male person LOL) does, hehe ;)) |
