Yeah I know... but you know... I love Ferrari (although not so proud to admit it this year, thank god they are going back to the lollipop to save themselves further embarassment).
:( Montreal definately has one of the best GPs :(

We gotta get a stupid bank to sponsor the Canadian GP.

Unrelated to the axe dropping on the Canadian GP but I loved this quote from Bernie ecclestone to Ferrari president Luca Montezemolo a few days ago:
"If Mr. Montezemolo believes F1 is such a circus then we must be grateful to him for providing the clowns."
1 word made the singapore GP absolutely delightful for me...
"Boom..."

Why? Do you even watch F1?
The track was breaking up the last two years. The best corner on the circuit, and it was causing all kinds of havoc. Then they threw down some compound which made racing possible, but it was still a mess. All kinds of debris, which cost a lot of people time. Every single driver was complaining, with Webber (head of the GPDA) making the point that it is outrageous (and unsafe) that modern track be in this condition.

The Montreal GP is the most watched GP on the planet, it was the 3rd most watched overall sporting event last year, because its timing is perfect for Europe (its the evening over there)... I also think its the GP that sells the most tickets with over 200k tickets sold in a weekend.
I would love to see the proof that is the most watched.

hmmm i would have thought it was Monaco or something.

Nope. Candian GP was the most watched last year.
I remember reading it in the year in review on Planet-f1.com.
If I have later to find it, I'll post it or a link to it up here.

According to Bloomberg, the highest rating F1 race for 2006 was the Brazilian Grand Prix was #5 (Schumacher's last race) and was the top GP in viewership.

Orko is right about the deplorable track condition... it's owned and maintained by the city.................................
The city has wasted money on useless idiocies like bike paths and other idiotic gadgets, while letting go the biggest international event in canada... this city has serious problems with its priorities.
Bravo gros cave!

This seems like another bluff atempt, the good people at GP1 know about the next week federal elections and are trying hard to extort more money.
The promoter hasn't even been advised about this decision (he has a contract with them till 2011).
And the final calendar will be voted in december...
another cash grab from eccelstone and his clowns.

So it was the most gp in 2005, when Schumi was still around, and some of the newer circuits were not ready yet. I was surprised because I did not think it could compete with Europe or Asia in terms of sheer numbers.
Lewis has done well to keep the numbers up while Schumi is gone. He definitely brings some more personality to the GP weekend, which is what the sport sorely needed. Although I love Kimi, he is a terrible world champion. You cannot understand him, he does all for sponsors, and just keeps his head down.
The Formula One Management Group (Bernnie) was the worst idea ever for a international racing series like F1. Sure Burnie, we will give you a 100 year contract to have exclusive rights and do what ever the you want. Meanwhile we are stuck with a lot of crappy tracks, with some historic and amazing tracks being dumped and then a place like Hungary getting another extension (WTF!!!), when it is one of the most boring races of the year. I guess they could actually afford it, because half of Europe comes out to watch it with the super low ticket prices.
Hopefully the new regs works, so that we get some better racing, and more passing next year. And hopefully Montreal is back so I can actually go when I have money!

It was also in 2007.
Not in 2004, but close, because of the france-italy finals of euro 2004, at the same time.
Anyways, this is a pure cash grab.
Federal minister Fortier called the clown to ask him what he wants, same thing from the mayor -Tremblay and the promoter.
They are all kneeling to get ed in the ass with your tax money:whip:
