Why do some TA's act like they're on coke?

Something has been bothering me for quite some time with this site.
Whereas its granted that it's a wealth of knowledge in regards to trance, it's also shown me that some people take it too far.

Hostility towards others' taste in trance.

Hostility towards others' taste in any other kind of music.

Attacks on people who speak what they believe to be true, not knowing that it isn't/possibly isn't.

It's starting to make me think a couple of times before I post for fear of flaming/hostility/attack.

Are people doing this so that they can feel superior?
Do they get kicks out of making others feel bad?

As this is one of my two fav forums (the other being UKClubland.net), I find it that I'm coming here more ONLY to get trance related info.
The other forum is full of friendly and happy people who respect others opinions and NEVER belittle someone or their views (unless really justified, eg. 'Woman should stay home and cook us men supper!', that would get alot of flak, but it's understandable flak).

I just hope that people get off their high-horses about things.
Trance is easily my first love, but out of all the people I know who like different music genres, trance lovers tend to be the most stuck-up about things (and I dont mean all of you, but some).

Phew
Check me vent :)

Here's looking to a more pleasant future for this site

There are lots of forums out there that go much worse than this in flaming. Without any controversy, this place wouldn't be that fun. Some people exagerrate like saying Paul Oakenfold is terrible!!! Plus its a view of different people reflected by their nation. Me being reflected by the trance scene in the U.S. is much different than other people viewing the trance scene in europe so a lot of different opinions will occur. Don't be scared to post! Being flamed is what a forum is all about!!!

Yeah, but it's not a case of, eg.

'I don't like that song'

it's more

'That song is utter crap!!'

I mean, I like fragma's stuff (usually the remixes tho) or Ian van Dahl (remixes again) and I really like Barthezz, but that would just get a 'CHEESE!!!!' response... :sadgreen:

And I do know there are alot of nice ppl out there, its just the nasty things stick more in ones mind

I wouldn't agree that being flamed is what a forum is supposed to be about. Granted people aren't going to agree on everything due to different tastes but does someone deserve to be humiliated and made to look like an idiot because of that? I come here to get great music and new ideas on what to check out, not to see people flamed for difference in opinion. Regardless if an artist or song is "cheese" maybe someone will see it posted, download it and get started from there. People who want to enjoy and expand their knowledge about this music have to start somewhere so why make them feel inferior?

ugh....you can get offended from a comment like "cheese"? oh come on....comments like these are absolutely nothing in the world wide web. ever played an online game and have about 30 insults thrown at you before the game even started? and those are BLATANT insults. take everything lightly. no need to get worked up because someone thinks someone else's favorite tracks are /cheese.

calling something cheesy is an opinion. if i think some track is tacky enough, then thats what i will label it as. if i think something is bad enough, then i will call it a track. we are all entitled to our opinions and seriously i don't see how anyone can get offended because someone doesn't think their track rocks.

Thats one of the reason's I dont bother with on-line gaming.
And I see 'cheese' as a BIG insult, coz when I use it, it is.

True, but I dont mean everyone needs to like everone else's track, it's just there's more tactful ways of dealing with things than saying 'thats '.

i agree.....opinions arent always facts, so no need to get all 'tight underweared' about people's opinions:toothless :)
