As for Oakey? Last set I enjoyed from him was in 04. He has gone downhill. But you know what? Oh well. He's past his time. Big ing deal. If it wasn't for him in the 90's I'd NEVER have gotten into this kind of music, so let the guy be. He'll probably give it up shortly anyway I'd guess. Maybe hes depressed? He's old, and didnt he divorce recently? WHo knows. Who cares. People still enjoy him, not me but others apparently do or he wouldnt still be playing. |

| hereīs my opinion though, i think he should quit mixing and stand up for his legacy focusing in promoting the music he loves by looking for some new talent, i mean by how i look at oakenfold for my point of view, you could tell heīs arrogant, and i support the people that complaint, cause we are putting all we have on sharing what we like the most, so in a way im kind off ofended by him, cause i feel like hes making fun of it. i donīt know just my thought |

thats exactly how it is. oakenfold is a greedy self centered , careless douchebag. He doesnt give a about the music, or his past, or about the future. The only thing he cares about is ripping people's money off with his lame ass premixed cd shows, to splurge on cocaine and plastic surgery. What a ing loser.:rolleyes: |

| Ultimately, the people win here. If one of us feel that Paul Oakenfold has completely lost his touch and that he should make like a tree and leave, then by all means, boycott his sets at clubs and not purchase his mixes. At least at this point, he will learn to drop out of the game because he won't be making a decent profit and not filling clubs. Plus, if he still does not get the big picture, then his supporting labels or agents or whatever may get the idea and take some action. I am glad that someone chose to speak their mind, but whining, as this thread has regressed to, should not be tolerated. |

I've heard of things like this before, even seen Oakie play and it looked athough he was playing a mix cd.
He used to be awesome, Ive seen him play many times especially between 1997-1999 at cream, gatecrasher, godskitchen, renaissance etc
when he was Simply out fo this world.
Even when tiesto was starting to gain some real attention back in 1998-2000 you could tell he was influenced by oakie sets, playing very similar tracks to oakie even the structure of sets were similar.
It cannot be denied Oakie has helped dance culture in many ways, i.e. Ibiza! He even discovered many huge artists either in dance or other genre's, e.g. salt & pepper. Anyway the list could go on for what he has done, that said from around 2001/2002 he has slowly chnaged which is fine but also gone down hill.
Now he could of carried on gracfully, its a shame he's doing what he's doing now. When ever I hear of a comment from an oakie set from the last 5 years its never been good, even when I saw him a few years back it was rubbish. Its true, if he's bored then he should either do something about it or quit or do something.
Maybe he isnt bored, but if thats the case he really should sort it out, cos to not have a good comment on any sets he's played recently is a bad thing. It could be due to getting smashed on coke all the time who knows!
I think its a shame that he has many people losing respect, for someone that had so much. I still like oakie I dont think I couldnt but its gutting to hear that he's slowly ruining his name. |
