Yes, Cara owns a lot of fast food/generic restaurants and for that reason alone using this song is awful.

One a sidenote -Cara owns Swiss Chalet - best Sunday night sketch food you can order in.

I give this commercial two big thumbs down.....wouldn't even be surprised if the person in charge of this marketing project gets booted out for lack of creativity/false advertising/sheer stupidity...

+1

been trying (unsuccessfully) to convince my friends that you dont have to be over 70 to eat here for years!

Who cares it's a god damn commercial. It obviously worked if it got people talking.

Eh. I like Crabby Joe's spinach dip better.

Plus they have a T bone steak + pint of domestic for 20 bucks

Waiting for ex-lifers to chime in here....

90% of the franchises you eat at are owned by the same parent companies. (Just look at the glasswear/dishware they use)

Cara and SirCorp are the parent corporations of numerous popular franschises that 'target' customers by presenting 'different' themes.

You are eating the SAME processed food at different locations.

Google it you will see.

Few locations actually have a dish that differentiates (sp?) them from their competitors (Ie Canyon Creeks Ribs are honestly FABULOUS and not available anywhere else to my cynical knowledge).

Further, since these are franchises, the quality of the dish is mostly dependant on the individual restaurant despite the exact same recipe. Higher volume locations usually translate into better prepared quality dishes (fresher because of the higher turnover and stricter regulations).

I could go on forever but IM tired of typing...

COR VERSION...

85% of franchises have the same in the same glasses/dishes.
Don't let the adds fool ya.

*edit* I wonder what CARA paid to use that song...though I think it was a bad move because NOBODY knows your name at Kelseys...(would you really want them too???)

i think the point the people in this thread are trying to state is that "everyone doesnt know ur name" and that its not as "homely" as cheers came off as....

ie. we all know that these are franchises (based on definition of a franchise including everything u mentioned) but lacks any sense of a friendly/known atmosphere

That deal is usually local, but ABSOLUTELY worth it if the cook knows what he is doing!!!!! (mid-rare or death!!!!)

sorry...I carry too much baggage from working in the food service industry years ago, I still can't help but dump it on any soul that I had to accomodate years ago... now that I have been liberated (especially because it has been years) I should know better.

In the future I'll just follow your T-shirt.

Meh.

*edit* look at the glasswear/variety of drinks in the kelseys/boston pizza commercial.... 1 beer in a Canadian glass, 1 ceasar, 1 wine glass, 1 highball, 1 Coca cola....it just seems SO MANUFACTURED to me. I KNOW... all advertising is designined as such, but I just can't help point it out when I see it. ( I assume that these marketers are IDIOTS but then again I understand that bitter ex food service employees are NOT their target audience :toothless )

working in somewhat advertising related industry, i can easily say that canadian advertising is NOT the best or even close to decent...majority of the successful campaigns aired here are made in the US which itself is lowgrade compared to ads anywhere else in the world...
