ing rollercoaster weekend

Friday was sick! Taj and Dirtyhertz got the crowd movin! CL was kinda all over the place and JOOF DESTROYED!!!!!!!!!! :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: The sound at Ruby was amazing, the bass was unreal :eyes:

After Ruby went to End Up and heard one of the best Saturday morning sets there ever. Deleone oe something from LA (spins at Avalon) was playin some crazy ripper tracks. Saturday turned into the usual Saturday debauchery with talks about quantum mechanics, worm holes and stories. :wtf:

After learning about subatomic particles and complex vector spaces, took Sarah back to the airport and then went to Ross to find a cool blue wolf shirt. Unfortunately it seems that Saturday nights at Ross are the nights when all the poor like to shop. The line was 30 people deep, no joke. :wtf: When did Ross get so cracken? :disbelief

Went to the Blue party and ing had an AWESOME time. Perfect pre-party for I thought would be an epic evening, it was until we left and we on our way to Ruby when some decided to stop paying attention while driving and caused this to happen...

From there it was all downhill. Luckily no one was majorly hurt but some of the girls did have back and neck pains Sunday and today. :(

I was mentally defeated after that. Just wanted to go party and deal with it later. First couple of hours of Armin I agree with DaveT that they were bleh. Too vocally and melodic and too many gay riffs. But the last 2 hours WERE BANGING!!!!!!! :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop:

Left around 4:30 to go hear Taj playing crazy ay 1015. Then went to End Up just because I didn't want to go home (and my mom worked until 7pm).

HUGE THANKS TO MY GIRLS FOR TAKING CARE OF ME SUNDAY AND KEEPING ME SMILING, LOVE U 2 ;)

Wow!!! Finally get a chance to post some comments about Friday night. I came up for the night and it was not a disappointment. I came to the city early to get settled in and take care of other business but my whole focus was on Ruby Skye that night. Having come up solo and not knowing anyone at all I still had an absolute blast at Ruby Skye. I must say I love the vibe up there in SF a lot more than down here in the LA area, so much more friendly and a lot easier for me to have fun even if my friends arent there. Taj and DIrty Hertz, you guys are awesome. When i first got there its was a bit empty and more laid back, you guys dropped some great classics before moving into the much dark side of things and helped set the mood for sure. For the last hour of your sets I was already on the floor rarin' to go. Cl.. I must say, was in AWESOME!! I missed him at Giant two summers ago when he got rave reviews but I couldnt miss it this time. I was thoroughly impressed, you had me groovin and the crowd was reacting like crazy!! As for j00f who I was really there to say, I must say I wasnt as impressed as I was hoping. I dont think that is a knock on him but rather that I was just exhausted by the time he came on so I couldnt complete enjoy his set. I managed to stick around till 3:30 or so and then walk the half block to my hotel (so clutch!!). At times he just had me moving but then I would collapse back into a lul that no number of red bulls could revive. All in all though, i LOVED my trip up there and I plan on making as many trips as I can because I love the people, the city, and the vibe you guys have up there. Rock on!!

Originally posted by DaveT You shove in some other DJ who just goes throughs the motion and the set might even fall flat on its face, but just seeing what Armin does behind the decks and seeing that he was just flat out having a great time...along with the crowd as a whole...I think that defines the night right there and the overall quality of his set.

Undeniably true. Independent of his mixing capabilities and track selection (that just sounds funny), I feel there's little argument as to the crowd-pleasing facets of his performance. It's not merely his continuous eye-contact and overt enthusiasm, but the authenticity behind it. Despite overwhelming majority of his tracklistings being disposal (in my opinion), his crowd responsiveness actually makes listening to it half-way fun. When the DJ is having as much fun as the crowd, you really feel like you're all in it together, as opposed to some stone-faced DJ who doesn't look up from the decks until he walks off the stage.

Anyway, the last time I saw Armin was in the middle of 2006, around the point in which his track selection began to take a dramatic dive, and even though I don't intend to see him again, I'm sure it will be a great show.

fun weekend! very good turn out on friday with a lot of fistpumping action in the crowd. i was expecting harder from c law and got it only when j00f stepped up to the decks. our discussion of quarks, antiparticles, dark matter, multiverses and gravitational gamma radiation from luminous galactic singularities over beer and smoke were fitting following that night :p i wasn't a big fan of armin's set because of all the foo foo trance he injected after every hammer drop, but communication was a nice touch  the best part of the night saturday was watching the crowd go nuts. you could hear the cheering over the music throughout the night and even after 4 no one was leaving. however, after i heard that 'too late to apologize' remix, i was ready to leave. talk about a vibe killing track!

DaveT
Apologize remix was the sander van doorn bootleg I am sure.

He basically just took parts of his SIA - The Girl You Lost to Cocaine remix and put it with apologize...and whala, his bootleg.

It's an OK bootleg. I actually like the song (not the bootleg) a lot...just it's been so f'n overplayed on the radio and tv that I'm over it.

do you think Armin gets more appreciation in SF or LA...

obviously the clubs are bigger in LA, but sometimes the crowds here can be... pshhhhhhh
