Anton did a very, very good opening set. I enjoyed it a lot. Great minimal-deep house, at 3 times it was so good that I thought Lawler was on. He holded back and let all the room for Lawler to start very deep, and that's not easy to do.
Lawler didn't even do an intro, meaning he was ok with what Anton played. And like always, did what he does best. Create a mood. Very deep, very dirty, very trippy, I love the guy. And Femme d'Argent is such an amazing track....
Nice seeing some of you there ;-) |
Don't you mean Femme Fatale?? Lawler killed it last night! This is the only dj that could make me take a day off work just to go see:) His set was deep, dirty and funky all at the same time. Once again he displayed why he is the best and most of all, why he is my favorite by far and away!
I think it's about time we book him at an after-hours?? Remember those awsome 8 hour tribal set's he played at Sona back in the day:gsmile: I'm thinking about hitting the Guvernment on Monday... |

| Yeah indeed Femme Fatale, I confused the title with the one from Air. Im tired. ;-) |

Got to the club just as Steve did- perfect timing!
Steve's the man; always been my fav, is currently my fav and always will be. No intro needed like Creator said and he usually does an intro so ya, that does indeed mean he was totally satisfied with what Anton was playing. Good on him- it's hard to please Steve! Only got to catch about the last 3 tracks from Anton and they were rollllllling! Good, deep, chuggy tech house- ahhhh, nothing like it!
Then Steve got on- he played a few tracks I could ID: The Hulk, a new Fergie track I'm not sure which one, and of course all his own stuff: Femme Fatale, 21st Century Ketchup, etc etc etc and a few off of that Space Opening set that was posted. One track in particular he dropped from that Space set: the one with crazy monkey vocals in it...ya, wasn't impressed when I heard it off the mix but last night MY GOD did it go down. Sometimes, I guess a big system is all you need.
Ummmmmmm, man Steve pulls people- but mainly GUYS. What a sausage fest sheesh! And it's the kind of guys that think they're soooooooooo cool wearing their Ray Bans inside :p (just kidding zeKsg)! And bouncers need to stop letting in undeage children who take pills on Thursday nights and start stomping on the ground and my feet like ing idiots. But whatever, Steve's always pulled mad amounts of people...cuz he's just THAT ing good. All the cameras/cell phones shot up as soon as he entered the booth- even before he cued his first track hehe. Ppl just screaming and yelling out for him; our way of letting him know how much he's appreciated in this city.
So how to describe his sound last night? Trippy, defo trippy. A little obscure and experimental elements going on in the tracks he played- the guy never stops discovering himself musically, he continuously re-invents the sound he pushes...This is why I respect him sooooo damn much. The beginning had more of a rolling, chunky, slightly proggy feel to it (even heard a tribal beat or 2 lol!) and towards the end was more of a realllllly insanely dark, filthy, banging, minimal-tech(no) edge. He covered all the good grounds of music- not once ing up (except for a few abrupt mixes) and smiling/dancing the whole night.
Nice meeting some fellow TAs (and of course all the usuals :))! Fullhouse you're the only one left for me to meet- come on now, don't be scuuuuuuured :p zeKsg met me last night, I'm not THAT bad now am I?
Ummmmm, really nasty sight at one point during the night: 2 chicks trying to get into the booth by making out with each other (?!?!?!?!) but the funniest part is that 1) they were told to go away and 2) one of the 2 girls was NOT interested in the make-out session at all LOL! Pure entertainment hehehe...but kinda super sleazy at the same time.
Again I say it, and I know I'm not alone on this one: BRING STEVE BACK TO STEREO; it's where he belongs. I honestly can say that I would have enjoyed his set last night WAAAAAAAAAAAY more if it would have been in an afterhours setting. And for the record, I enjoyed his previous Tribe performances more than last night's. Not by a landslide but I just feel he BANGED things out more the last times compared to last night.
Tribe, I know your AC was working but I dunno, make it work harder or something...I felt soooo dizzy at points from the humidity. And I actually avoided buying alcohol due to the heat. 700 people at the club will do that, so prepare!
He's back in August, already counting down ;) But first, TO here I come:gsmile: |

The track is called Affentaz, the monkey screaming is definitly a ?! but it works, when the track starts again it's very efficient. I also dig a lot the new remix of Courses for Horses from Erphun.
And yes it was VERY hot... too much. And definitly a problem with agressive guys, a lot of pushing and disrespect. |

The bouncer asked 3 girls, one of them was absolutely stunning to off because they were under 21. So yeah, major sausage fest.
Blasphemy!!
I flexed after waiting 25 minutes in the line. Loler isn't my type of music to start, so i just lost intrest after all this wait. |
