Now if I was a promoter for TRIBE I'd defend it too, after all I need it to pay my rent. Ain't that the case. :p
Look I'm gonna be at both parties, but we all already know who will win. Guvernment nightclub recently didn't get ranked number 8 in the world for no reason. ;)
Even our mini club This is London trumps over TRIBE. lol |

im not confused at all. im thankful tribe is bringing him because he's my favourite DJ and let's face it: nobody else in this city has the budget to bring him and give him the cash his management wants for him. so ya, i'm thankful tribe has $$$ to book him :)
i said "even though it's at tribe" because 1) i don't like tribe's crowd or vibe and 2) because i believe steve's sound would suit an afterhours like stereo MUCH more than a club like tribe.
people are saying steve's TO parties kill his MTL ones...well no ! that's cuz he's booked in various afterhours/pretty major events in TO while in MTL he gets booked at one single 10pm-3am club. it doesn't take a genius to realize that a DJ like steve lawler's performance is much more likely to be 1000000x better at an afterhours compared to a 10pm-3am club.
so, no; i'm not confused...just...how can i say it?...I'm thankful by default :p:)
and special k: no, i must admit i've never properly partied in TO...i've seen enough from youtube videos and call this a lame excuse if you want but i have enough acquaintances/friends who have told me absolute horror stories about their numerous partying experiences...the vibes are awful because absolutely EVERYone is ed outta their minds to the point of no longer looking human. the attitudes of the at least 100 people i've met from TO are revolting. all TO party-people seem to care about is their pills, their possee and their PLUR...not exactly a vibe i tend to be comfortable with. and my opinion is based on 3 years of partying (ya i know, not so much but it still carries some ground) and meeting countless amounts of people mainly from MTL, TO and ottawa. i've partied in ottawa and i have the same opinions about ottawa as i do about TO, just a tad less harsh. different strokes for different cities i guess. |

lol wow. So you've completely written Toronto off based on a few Youtube videos and the friend of a friend who is disgruntled about his one bad night at The Guv? Give me a break.
Also, you're saying that people in Toronto only care about drugs and get way too ed up? looooooool. Montreal is hardly better. The last time I went to Montreal (for Sasha & Digweed), everyone was ED. It was actually quite shocking really. You don't see people doing airplanes and rubbing Vicks all over themselves in Toronto. I'm not by any means saying Toronto is a more sober city than Montreal, but what you said is just ridiculous.
If you can't come to Toronto because of school, then fine. But don't try to justify your decision by putting down a city you clearly know nothing about, based on Youtube videos and hear-say.

To be honest, it is your attitude that is revolting. It sounds like you have barely visited Toronto at all. And what is the use in saying something like this? Everywhere I go around the world, I talk up Toronto, but also Montreal saying how amazing and unique a city it is, and how nice the people are from there. I don't get it why so many people from Montreal still have such a hate on for Toronto.

hating toronto is the one thing that brings us closer to the rest of canada as its probably the only thing we actually have in common with the rest of the country.:p
Toronto isn't my favorite city in the world, but i'm not even a lawler fan and i have heard how much the rooftop sets are dope. Imagine picnic at sunrise but you don't have to travel from the club you were just in to go. There are far worse places to party for sure.
ps no camera policies = better clubs imo in to or mtl. Thats the tiest thing i find with many TO clubs. |

I wonder the same thing. I always talk about how great Montreal is as a city to visit, the people, the shops, the food, the parties...and I feel the same way about our city...but to each his own I guess. This is what opinions are for.

And WOW to the comments about that Toronto party people only care about their pills... because we are the only city to party in where people like that.
Yes, there are some people who tend to take things a little over board, but where don't they? There are also so many parties in the city where the true house heads gather. Guvernment is a club that brings in everyone...people into the music, people not into the music, its just the way the club is and how they market themselves. I don't always like what I see around me, but I'm there for the music, and I would say a very high majority of the people I go with (i guess my "possee" you would say) are there for the music too. I heard all about the S&D party and it's level of drug usage that went down there, and I would not base my opinion of the Montreal Party scene on what went down at that event, or any others for that matter.
I have always found your posts to be educated for the most part, and it is apparant that you are truly passionate about the scene. Our styles of music and the vibe in a party we look for seem to be pretty much on the same level with each other, and I have always enjoyed reading what you had to say. But right now, this post is a very slanderous way of describing a city and its scene that you clearly do not know much about. |
