"Knowing" and seeing are very different things. Almost as different as that gulf between seeing a video of something happening and actually experiencing it. |

I think they are one and the same when it comes to violence and death.
I dont need to see millions of people die and suffer from a nuclear bomb explosion to know that is one of the worlds worst weapons. |

But you have to admit, that actually SEEING something like that in reality, would evoke a much stronger emotional response than simply 'knowing' it's a terrible thing. |

Evoke an emotion of pity and hatrage (sp) towards the weapon, i would still know the same about how much damage it can do. |

| Hating inanimate objects is quite an exercise in stupidity. And I quite seriously doubt you have been witness to anything truly violent and destructive in your lifetime; you would know that seeing someone being shot, stabbed or decimated to some other degree is far different when it actually occurs. If it weren't, you could know pretty much everything there is about the world by merely watching television all of the time, don't you think? |

Ok, maybe a nuke is a bad example.
Consider a knife instead, and watching somebody stabbed to death. Does that make you hate the knife? No. It's the act itself, of killing, that is highly emotive. The knife is just a tool of that.
