Based on your post, I'm assuming you already have players and a mixer and simply need to hook them up to your puter and record. Check out your soundcard and the apps your comp came with because you may have a basic recording app already available.
Torq is not exactly what youre looking for. Its more of a device for mixing on your comp. What you need is something like the M Audio audiophile USB.
This sells for under $2oo i believe. And it should come with all the software (protools) you need to record. But i could be mistaken about that. Just make sure that whatever you buy comes with the software required to record your mixes. |
that isnt all that neccessary if its just basic audio recording. should he have been using it with post fx on the pc on a sequencing software, then he would need something like that for reducing latency....latency is not even in the picture in this case..
if sound card is an issue and ur using a desktop, get one of the m-audio PCI cards (far cheaper and as efficient as the usb/firwire audio devices)

if u have a high end soundcard, use the "line in" as compared to "mic in" but yea sure use the mic in |

cos u have to remember that the sound going in is already amped...depends on how much the soundcard can handle... |

Audacity/Goldwave/total recorder(via torrents): $0
The time and money saved doing so: priceless |

the fact that u dont know what soundcard u have probably means u just use a basic onboard soundcard....u dont really need any "details" to make this happen.
as VJ said earlier, just find some freeware from download.com meant for recording.
jsut make sure u dont redline and ur fine (the recording software will surely have a db meter)
PS. audacity = sound recording software |
