Based on your post, I'm assuming you already have players and a mixer and simply need to hook them up to your puter and record. Check out your soundcard and the apps your comp came with because you may have a basic recording app already available.

Torq is not exactly what youre looking for. Its more of a device for mixing on your comp. What you need is something like the M Audio audiophile USB.

This sells for under $2oo i believe. And it should come with all the software (protools) you need to record. But i could be mistaken about that. Just make sure that whatever you buy comes with the software required to record your mixes.

that isnt all that neccessary if its just basic audio recording. should he have been using it with post fx on the pc on a sequencing software, then he would need something like that for reducing latency....latency is not even in the picture in this case..

if sound card is an issue and ur using a desktop, get one of the m-audio PCI cards (far cheaper and as efficient as the usb/firwire audio devices)

if u have a high end soundcard, use the "line in" as compared to "mic in" but yea sure use the mic in

0%

cos u have to remember that the sound going in is already amped...depends on how much the soundcard can handle...

RCA->1/8": $4-10
Audacity/Goldwave/total recorder(via torrents): $0

The time and money saved doing so: priceless

the fact that u dont know what soundcard u have probably means u just use a basic onboard soundcard....u dont really need any "details" to make this happen.

as VJ said earlier, just find some freeware from download.com meant for recording.

jsut make sure u dont redline and ur fine (the recording software will surely have a db meter)

PS. audacity = sound recording software
