The quality is in no way getting lower, it's just getting harder to find something that appeals to your taste. And what the "trance" movement is pushing forth now as its fledgling sound isn't jivin' with you. I'd be willing to bet that there's plenty of people producing the same type of stuff from the late 90's as they just heard some trancemaster mixfagotron volume plur and proceeded to download Fruity Loops and jam away.
Who knows, soon they might be making marginally reputable productions that suit your fancy (whatever that may be). |

haha i'm exaggerating but you have to admit it was 'very unicorn' 'reach for the lasers' house :) i saw some of the biggest househeads i knew there reaching like they were at an armin concert
anyways i bring it up because some of the more well known tech house acts i've seen in the past year have been putting a lot more 'emo' stuff into their sets, complete with big vibe-killing breakdowns, unicorn melodies, etc
i expected bug to play a cassy style housey set - repetitive, tight, groovy microhouse, but it was obnoxious and epic ala diynamic (fun nonetheless) |

i'll be at danny howells, chris lake,, fanciulli and other house/techno shows once this vocal craze and "cookie cutter" trance phase is over and done with.
slowly... moving... on out! to the eastside.

It was def fun! My first time catching the Bug and not what everyone really told me he'd be like. But him & Adultnapper [also my first time catching him] ROCKED! Since I moved.. Cielo has never failed me.  |

I agree, I have been a trance fan since '94 and I never had any difficulty finding new tracks I liked. If you think around '98 is the real trance, you might have a problem. I don't think that will ever return they way many would like to. I think many things of 10-15 years ago won't get make a full comeback. Maybe certain parts, sounds will, but mixed with modern styles. I compare it to retro styling you see in car designs.
In 2007 most people ever visited festivals in Holland like Sensation and Dance Valley. Of course not all of it is trance, but I do think it shows trance is still alive and kickin'. But only if you would agree A.S.O.T. tracks are also trance, because they simply are, whether you like it or not.... |

The thing is, trance will come back in disguise. This is the case with all revivals. No one trumpets a replica of an old sound when a sound "comes back"; it returns in some mutant, stealth form that's recognized as a revival only in retrospect.
When trance comes back, no one will realize it at first. And that's kind of exciting, because we have no idea what it may sound like, or when it may happen. Cultural trends are seldom predicted with accuracy. |

| Trance will come back....I've seen enough quality music in these forums alone to know that it's possible. We just have to find a way to disband the jackholes who are flooding the market with piss poor quality tracks and a lack of appreciation for the genre. |
