Are u really going to be spinning a trance set Sunday? If so, I may have to come check that out.

Well, it's a mini-set -- on open turntables night, everyone who signs up (or just shows up) gets a chance to spin for about 15-35 minutes, depending on how many attend. My "set" always consists of trance, whereas most of the others play other flavors of EDM. I believe Doug Theodore also brought some trance to the Last Sunday event a couple months ago. It's a good opportunity to enjoy a variety of tastes. Greg hasn't posted an announcement yet, but I'm assuming we'll have another event this Sunday?
(Sorry for the brief thread derail, heh. Uh, to segue back toward the topic: Maybe someone else could bring some ISOS7 tracks to Midcity in the hopes of reliving last night's fine experience? ... Minus the massive crowds, deafening sound system, and glowsticks.) |

I don't know, maybe 100 would be worth it for the comfortable experience, but 275, no way. Was that up by the dj booth or the area across from it?
|
100 was for the back, across the way... 275 was so that you could be "15 feet from Tiesto" as they tried to entice me to upgrade... lol. like i give a $hit how close i am to him, especially considering how many times i've seen him before and at much cooler/exciting venues.
i hate when small places try and rape their customers and detract from the experience. |

The show really wasn't that bad minus the sardine-like conditions. Tiesto actually seemed pretty into it. He moved into decent trance stuff pretty fast...mostly ISOS7 material. I also remember hearing Ronski Speed - All the Way.
Overall it was worth my money. My noob friend had a blast as expected. |

I'm still not disappointed that I missed out. Although, I've really been turned off by big name DJ shows since Armin's show at Opera last year. I've skipped out on all "epic" DJ's since
I've seen him too many times, anyway... I'm looking forward to Deadmau5! |

OK, here's my review...
The tracks Tiesto played were surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting him to play trance since I thought he had abandoned the genre ages ago, but I was wrong! Lots of material from ISOS7, but much of it wasn't. Although I must say, Tiesto is a really bad entertainer. The entire time he was just staring at his decks, mildly bopping his head, looking around. I think I saw him smile and interact with the crowd twice. When he left, he just waved and walked away. Compared to the last show I saw (Armin in Chicago, where he was at 100% energy, totally into the crowd, and came out to shake hands before he closed his set), it was a really big downer. As for the sound system, it was fine in the beginning, at least for me because I had Etymotic ER-20s in my ears, but about halfway through Tiesto's set he decided to crank up the bass ALOT, so even with my earplugs in it was mostly what I heard.
Here are the tracks that I could recognize / remember, in no particular order (listing most of the ISOS7 ones first)
Banyan Tree - Feel The Sun Rise
Andy Duguid feat. Leah - Wasted <--- The crowd went NUTS when the first beat dropped, it was great!
Jerry Ropero feat. Cozi - The Storm (Inpetto Remix)
Dokmai - Reason To Believe
Cary Brothers - Ride (Tiesto Remix)
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise Remix)
Cressida - 6AM (Kyau & Albert Remix)
Cass Fox - Touch Me (Mike Koglin vs. Jono Grant Remix) <--- BEST moment of the night, hands down. The crowd was going CRAZY and everyone knew the words! (Although they were singing the Rui da Silva version and not this one... noobs )
Majai - Phoria (Elevation Remix)
Hensha - The Curtain
Andre Visior & Kay Stone - Something For Your Mind (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) <--- click here for YouTube video
Estiva vs. Marninx - Casa Grande <--- also have a video of this... you can hear me singing the melody in the background, hehe
Ronski Speed feat. Aruna - All The Way (Original Mix)
Alex Kunnari - Lifter (Original Mix) <--- I never thought this would be so good in a club!
Gareth Emery - More Than Anything (Stoneface & Terminal Dub)
Oh, and the guy who opened, Roland Darragh, was really good! Not too big of a prog fan, but he really got me pumped up. The only two tracks I could recognize were Tranquility Base - Surrender (Jaytech Remix) and Pryda - Armed, but I still really enjoyed his set. Calamar and I were yelling "ROLAND! ROLAND!" whenever the stupid s in the crowd started chanting "TIESTO! TIESTO!" during his set. Seriously, how disrespectful can you get? Oh well, they were probably too strung out on E to know who was spinning, anyway. And they probably didn't even know what Tiesto looks like before last night...
All in all, good night, worth the $45! I'll post the links to those 2 YouTube videos in a bit. |

| I just noticed something about the tracklist. Did he not play any of his own songs? |
|

| He played a couple of his remixes. |

Glad to see this show didn't turn out to be a total bust. I'm honestly amazed that at this point after touring for so long he's not totally drained, hope he gives himself a break soon.
Anyway, good reading the reviews and such. |

I'm pretty sure what he considers touring is what we consider a luxury vacation |
