| I wouldn't think so. I've been buying records since 1996 /97 (many from artists liek Hallucinogen, MWNN, Johan Bley, Juno Reactor etc), long before I owned a second turntable, let alone a mixer. I've always felt pretty informed about EDM, I never got into the whole radio poo music scene. I've been composing / remixing since around 2000 as well. So no, I do not feel I was ever a musical retard. But thats just my opinion. |

Just bear in mind not everyone has the same history with edm.
Personally got into classic trance at the age of 3... infact recently bought cosmic baby-thinking about myself for my dad for christmas... since he had it on tape and no longer has a tape player (discogs ftw). |

Even when I didn't know about 'edm', I didn't talk about it like I knew what it was. That's the difference between a musical retard and me. I make sure I know what the i'm talking about before I talk about it...usually. |

Oh wow!!! Thats such a badass album!!! I've been a fan of Cosmic Baby for quite some time, Harald Bluchel definitely can produce!! Oddly enough, my dad loves that album as well. He still has the double LP somewhere.
Yeah I understand not everyone has the same history in EDM. To each their own I guess? The thread was more about the shared experience of the pain such a discussion can bring tho, not really meant to bash on people's different backgrounds in EDM. |

| Although on second thoughts if any one discussion would have fallen under someone being a musical retard that would be with the youtube superstar (and IRL mobile dj [pop music] briansred). Basicly I'm just like mate... 10 minutes is not a proper mix... and neither is only playing 1 minute of each of those (quite boring IMO) house tracks. I also brought up the issue of the fact that youtube video (well in this case the audio component) sucks and why he doesn't post his stuff on better quality at a different website or upload them to filefront or something so we can see it in better. So apparently he thinks he is going to get arrested if he plays EDM in a bitrate higher then youtubes (as if there is any legal difference legally). Anyway that ended quite stupidly and I'm pretty sure he still thinks 10 minute mixes are legitimate as is only playing 1 minute of a song lmao. Although admitably I really like his attitude in videos... its a lot better than ellaskins who often comes acoss as fake and trying too hard. |
