Isn't it just the same loop from Spastik phrased slightly differently and made like a minute longer?
:conf:
I don't know that I'd call it "gash" (I'd reserve that for something that actually sounded horrid absolutely horrid, repulsive even), just unnecessary, pointless, uninspired, and really nothing at all that wasn't already in the original.
I suppose the thought of what it is alone, how much it sold, and how little effort went into it is pretty wretched in itself. |

| I just wish everyone would stop giving dubfire all these hot remix duties just because his sells at beatport. |

That's just not going to happen though.
Not that I ever thought Hawtin had any kind of integrity to begin with, but the fact that he himself signed Dubfire to rework Spastik and was actually willing to release the he came back with should really say it all - I mean for s sake, Dubfire is playing m_nus nights! Aren't they supposed to be the pretentious upper-crusters with high standards?
Money talks, bull walks - and that's always how it's going to be. |

I thought the SMD remix of Big Fun is not bad at all.
But agreed with what else has been said. It's classic for a reason. It can't get any better then it originally was imho. |

| depends on the remix, some are better or equally as good as the original, some are good but dont compare to the classic trance sound of the original. i find certain remixes incorporate todays trance sounds, instead of doing a remake with the 99 trance sound, so it does sound different. |

butchering the remix would imply adding or subtracting too many parts and raping what was good about the original... yet most of these remakes coming through this year are more updates than straight up remixes.... i'd hardly call that butchering when they're only adding their soundbank backing beats and leaving the melody intact. |
That's exactly the point though. Why do they feel the need to "update" the track? By doing that, they make it sound like every other ing tune out there atm. There's distinct sounds that can be heard to give clues of what era the music is from, "updates" eliminate that. |

I believe the last classic that Tyas reworked was children way back in mind 2006, i could be wrong. |

Nalin & Kane - Beachball (Gabriel and Dresden Remix)
is a good example of a classic being improved by a remix.
