Any of you still live in the town you grew up and sometimes will see or run into some one you remembered from school?
I did. Earlier I was at the grocery store today and I seen this girl I remembered from high school. And she was pregnant.
Why does she get to have sex and not me? |

| I see them all the time. What's creepy is that somehow they remember me very clearly, but I don't remember any of them, and I wasn't exactly the center of attention in high school. |

I find it amusing seeing them occasionally. I loved highschool. :)
But I don't like it when people I didn't really know go further than a light chat, and start pretending like we've been best buds for eternity :nervous: |

Yeah seriousely. I didn't give a crap about them in high school and they didn't give a crap about me, so what's the deal? |

I was getting ice cream with my mom on Monday and a really smart girl I knew from high school served it to us at the McDonald's Drive-Thru. I mentioned it to one of my friends and she told me that the girl works there full-time. I also know so many people who were total braniacs in high school that are now full-time waiters or dishwashers at local restaurants.
I think it's f*cking sad that their parents didn't motivate them properly do to something better with their lives. What a waste of natural intelligence. |

| very few people who knew me in highschool recognize me today... so when I bump into them I can usually escape before they realize they know me. |

| I've actually seen more people from school in this last 12 months than for about 7 years, and I left 10 years ago this year. Some of us went to college, others stayed in the schools own post 16 centre. Not too many surprise me much, those who I thought would go far generally have. |

The school system isn't made for smart people. It's taylored to the needs of the average student, and those who don't have the same needs get left out, demotivated and depressed. You'd be surprised how many drop out. Imagine dragging behind for weeks on concepts you understood in a matter of hours because the rest of the class is slower, spending every day doing mindless tasks and assignments that teach you nothing and only waste your time, not being able to relate with any of the other students, having a system designed to hold you back...
I've had this discussion with one of my college professors. Turns out beyond a certain point, it's usually the brightest students who drop out. |

No, I moved a week after graduation. I still see people when I go back home or if they come here. I love seeing old classmates and realizing I've accomplished more. :p
and lol @ pregnant. My best friend and I calculated that about 40 percent of our graduating class is now married or with their second child. Of course these are mostly the outcasts and welfare kids who have kids to get money from the Government. |

considering i live 900 miles away from where i went to high school, i never run into old classmates unless i go back home to visit family... and even then, it's rare and very random.
i was pretty much fed up with all my high school friends by the time senior year came around, so i didn't bother staying in touch with anyone after it was all over. a few have found me on Facebook but i think i only accepted one of the friend requests, only because it was a girl who i grew up with since we were 5 years old.
there's only one person who i wonder about - my best friend during senior year - but i haven't been able to figure out how to contact him. |

Most of my best mates are from high school, heh. I see them all the time. Most people from our class that kept studying, moved to the nearest university, like me. And most still live here (university is about 40 minutes away).
But sure, there's the odd people that have moved away and only show up on holidays or something. |
