Radio Slave is as formulaic a producer as Deadmau5 (pg. 2)

When he played in Chicago he asked (or demanded, depending on who you ask) that some friends of his open for him (play an hour between the locals and RS).
Those friends apparently turned out to be the single worst amateur hip-hop s anyone had ever seen - if I remember right, the crowd went from about four to five hundred down to a handful by the time Radio Slave actually started playing. |
:wtf: |

I've been trying to dig up someone's first hand report on it from MWTA, but have failed utterly so far - so I might not even be right, and it may not have been the Radio Slave show where that happened.
I'm pretty sure it was though. |

He is good at what he does. Real good. His remixer skills are out of this world.
Deadmau5 sucks period. Faxing Berling was great, other than that, nothing.
I agree RS uses repetition and looping and all, but he is great at it !
Listen to these two tunes:
Trentemoller - Moan (RS remix)
Len Faki - My Black sheep (RS remix)
and then just come back and ask for forgiveness
and YES, nothing happens until the 2nd minute, but it's a way of teasing, isnt it ? |

Radio Slave has mastered the concept of groove pretty well, unlike Deadmau5. Also RS has a wider array of sounds and such, the only thing his productions have in common is repetition and a dark feel.
Just go listen to his EM or something... sigh how could someone mention Radioslave in the same sentence as Deadmau5.. |

Basically you guys are both just saying that you prefer him to Deadmau5, not that he's doing anything all that differently.
Taste is taste, but neither of you have said anything about how the fact that they're both formulaic as yet treated totally differently doesn't make much sense.
And all of you Radio Slave sheep saying or who will say "go listen and come back" can right off. I have, and I don't particularly feel compelled to ask for forgiveness for not liking the same music that you do.

Probably yes. Apparently he's doing something right in the eyes and ears of his listeners. And as he makes technoish tracks you know the looping is evident. People expect it in the scene. But though he's not being discussed around here so much compared to Deadmau5 it could be he is criticized somewhere else. I think the main reason Deadmau5 is getting slacked so much here is because more people tend to listen to his stuff and not Radio Slave's.

Absolutely not. The obvious answer: a matter of taste and thus subjectivity. Both are doing amazing things objectively I guess, but I'd prefer Radio Slave over Deadmau5 any day. |

I like your posts, usually, but here you are just whining for nothing.
RS = repetition, electronic music = repetition.
What don't you understand ? |

Whoa, touchy!
There's nothing wrong with being formulaic, Radio Slave just does it better.
Like I said, Radio Slave has a better understanding of groove and arrangement imo. He just makes repetitiveness work. Deadmau5, I just liked Not Exacty and the rest of it didn't do anything for me.
Also Radio Slave's Misch Masch comp is <3. |
