I care about a playable version of the game I want to play, which quite often seems to come somewhere half-way the marketing plan, instead of being the main issue.

GTA is one of those games where playability was a bit of a rollercoaster line, but the small funny, silly or bizarre details made it one of my favorite franchises ever.

R* are not the perfect developers, but they at least seem to care about the general worth of a finished product.

Being a gamer is not about buying the "right" hardware, it's about enjoying what you play and bother to play properly and also make sure you stay away from tv/movie/product-attached franchises.

Even though it's annoying to upgrade your rig, PC games dominate in terms of quality.

Diablo II / Expansion, Starcraft, World of Warcraft to me are the three best games I've ever played.

(lol all made by the same company, w.e)

RTS/RPG/MMORPG really reflect a higher level of depth and satisfaction in gaming, and it just so happens that PCs are a lot better in exploring these genres.

Sure I beat a load of console games and can even play online and with other people for awhile, but that gets boring after playing it for too long.

With consoles, I find myself going from game to game.

Conversely, I played D2 for years before getting tired of it, the same goes for SC and WoW, and to a lesser extent WC3.

Yet again you prove your superior debating skills by posting a single smiley as a reply to ownymcown's post. Amazing. I know a picture is worth a thousand words and since that smiley is animated and I cant be bothered to check out how many frames it has you could have easily provided anywhere between 3000 and 5000 words with that single image, i can only imagine the level of pwnage you delivered with that. Again I must applaud your abilities to get get your point across with so little effort.

The PC Play magazine has released an English version of an interview it did with Cevat Yerli, president of the German Studio Crytek, which is well known for developing Crysis. In the interview they discuss the success and failures of Crysis, but more importantly the state of the PC gaming industry.

Yerli was asked about the risk of going PC exclusive with a high-profile title, and replied with: “It is certainly. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC Gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we wont have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.”

Also in response to this there is one thing that need to be said. While I have no doubt that Crysis was heavily pirated it it not the only reason that console FPS outsell it by a factor of 5. When you buy a console FPS you can be reasonably sure that it will run well (since developers like to push things a little to far lately its not uncommon that even console games get low fps). On the other hand how many people have the rig to run Crysis reasonably well. Well reasonably well maybe, but certainly not with all the settings set on high, and for the game that was hyped purely as the best looking game ever, if you cant play it on high, why play (and buy) it at all?

Saying that i have neither bought nor pirated Crysis. I played the demo, but since i had to play it on low and even then the gameplay wasn't smooth, so despite not being a graphics whore i felt no desire to buy the game that doesn't deliver anything else but the graphics.

That's why i still play No One Lives Forever 2. The gameplay is excellent, the game is full of humour, i love the characters and despite it's age i think it still looks good. Best FPS I ever purchased.

n00b! you could edit it instead of quote yourself

i've got the ps3+gta4 pack 2 days ago. was a good deal

i chose ps3 only because of the the blu-ray player. considering hd-dvd is going downhill.

guess i'll regret later when some major extra gameplay will be released only for 360 but oh well, you can't have everything in life :p
