haha
But it was on an elevated platform like 15 feet above everyone else, so no need to worry about the DJ's safety...
But it was pretty cool. The Stage continuously rotated all night long...

exactly my point.
it was an event that was a special event. its not something that happens every weekend in a much smaller venue. and look at all the railings and security they had around the booth for that. and with the booth that high up you will definitely hear people on tota complain about how stupidly high the booth way and how the dj thought he was god because of it. |

too many idiots would be breaking the djs balls for requests or even just to become his/her friend. |
do they run into these problems in the gallery? the booth down there is very approachable. if it were that much of an issue I would assume they'd change the setup |

I don't even want to be confrontational, but gallery (which i love to death) compared to the mainroom is a world of difference. I see a fair share of ppl creeping behind the booth or bothering dj's. Usually the dj's are hospitable.
I've heard of stalkers even of the male kind who are legends at guv because of their efforts to do exactly as jay mentioned for a request or friendship. One freak would shout MO's name for like hours a few years ago, when mark used to play up in the nest.
Imagine the sketchies anywhere with a hydraulic dj booth in the middle of the floor. ing lawsuits and fatalities waiting to happen.
A hanging dj booth in the middle of the floor would be cool with like an entrance via a spot like skybar and a trapdoor or something to that effect to enter and exit it or a bridged space to enter or exit via delux lounge...anyways i'm playing make belief here so thats my 2 cents. |

I agree with you here. That is why I love the smaller rooms because they can get away with intimate dj booths that are right with the crowd. |

they should really make the dj booth in the middle.. i have never seen a dj booth in the middle of any club dance floor. It would also make it equal distance for everyone to see the dj... as well as clear up room for dancing! |
We had that in KH for a few parties... |

Money had that hanging booth deal...
And the guy shouting Mark's name is not a stalker...just weird...
And we're talking about the Skybar here...not mainroom...
um...that is all... |

Why don't you take a pic of what you think it would look like! |

I would rather play close to the crowd.
however the most annoying thing about that, is people trying to talk to you when you're playing.. especially when they start tapping on your shoulder while you're trying to mix! |

I don't mind talking to people when I'm playing as long as they don't interrupt when I'm mixing or setting up a mix. The tapping of the shoulder is way too far.
"are you going to play techno all night?"
I still prefer booths that are with the crowd though.. even if it does mean dealing with the random douchebag that can't take a hint that you don't have time for a long winded story. |
