congrats mang! (on the appartment, that is). If it's your first - welcome to nightmare of paying bills, dealing with finances and having a place to call your own. haha, yeah it's my first place, and I'm def already fearing the payment of monthly bills.

Yo, my advise - have a housewarming party and do a registry thing. I know it sounds faggy - but it beats not having in your place and paying for it. Go to like home depot, bed bath and beyond, or some other store you like and put together a list of you'll need. Invite loads of people, serve Schlitz beer and Pizza, collect presents.... WIN!
I must have spent $2000 on minute when i got my first place - it was a real buzzkiller, being broke for 2 months and not being able to go out and pull some tail back to my cave. Next place - I smartened up - did the chick thing - APARTMENT SHOWER, erm. I mean housewarming party with registry :) Got all the I needed - new towels, dishes, knives, coffeemaker, etc. :)
