EDIT: i just realized how harsh my original 1st paragraph of my review was lol but i really don't mean it in a bad angry way; i'm just saying that so many peeps who hyped up this party didn't show so i'm just playing the choker card; which is done by many on this boards and there's nothing wrong with it...i really didn't mean to offend anyone :)
with that being said ;), where were all my nasty, mean, hardwired critics at this event? they were the ones hyping this day and bloop, nowhere to be seen. i know i don't need to mention names but i will anyway :) DJ nacht and brancatella and the whole PU crew are the names that come to mind first so i'll leave it at those. absolutely nowhere to be seen! whyyyyyyyy??? cuz of less than 2mm of rain? puhleazzzeeeeee....:p
seriously tho, where was everybody??? recovering from the comedown after radioslave at metropolis? jeeeeeeez i'm so happy I went to DISCOVER 2 guys i had no clue about up until 3 weeks ago- when i finally started doing some small research on them (oner and mathias). bottom line: i'm a trooper; you all are losers who didn't show up :p you too passsskal!
when i found out initially that radioslave was gonna play at piknik, i got super excited and that was my reason for going, ultimately. i didn't go to metropolis cuz i didn't wanna be in a cracker-ish environment. but mon dieu, oner and mathias are simply SICK although sometimes their mixing was a little shifty. track after track, i didn't dislike one part of their set. oner looks like a mix of james holden and ricardo villalobos while mathias takes on the richie hawtin role. it was like the ricardo/richie party back in june 06...it was raining then it stopped...the music was absolutely insane. ing progressive techno for the win. PROGNOOOO darv ;) we get it; no one else does ;) well maybe maher but he was having WAY too much fun to understand ANYTHING :p
i don't even wanna comment about NOZE but it's a review so i will. their live set was an awesome concept and it was full-on LIVE, properly. ummmm, i really did not dig much of their sound per say, some jazzy elements which i enjoyed and really smooth stuff but that's it. they were ING wasted like seriously, only sven could beat the condition those 2 guys were in, lol. before their set, maher and i watched them polish off a bottle of bombay gin...straight. then, after their show, they polished off a 40 oz of vodka. i'd have died, like most people right?
mathias was so annoyed with the blonde guy from NOZE and rightfully so. the guy from NOZE plugs in his mic while mathias is doing a mix and starts screeching some obscenities nobody understood. it was sheer jokes. then he proceeded to go in front of all the set-up and pour vodka down fans' throats. classy, hahaha! the security had to come up and tell him to get off. so that was kinda raunchy (especially considering the fact that the dude from NOZE that was causing havoc is MARRIED; freaking djs :p)
hi to the troopers: darv + friend, bertuzzzz + friends and ostrich + friends +++ a few more :)
ummmmm tag team for the win...hot dogs, pot, booze and TRUE edm fans. what else could i ask for?

i have nothing but kind words for the mutek organizers and piknik staff, what a proper event: i can't stress that enough; there are soooo many club owners/event organizers who should take notice as to how successful this event is w/o fail...everytime it's a success (im talking both mutek and piknik).
may the EDM god bless you mutek/piknik people, seriously, a musical event always to be remembered again and again. YAY! :) |
