Denialism: the employment of rhetorical tactics to give the appearance of argument or legitimate debate, when in actuality there is none. These false arguments are used when one has few or no facts to support one's viewpoint against a scientific consensus or against overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They are effective in distracting from actual useful debate using emotionally appealing, but ultimately empty and illogical assertions.
Examples of common topics in which Denialists employ their tactics include: Creationism/Intelligent Design, Global Warming Denialism, Holocaust Denial, HIV/AIDS Denialism, 9/11 conspiracies, tobacco carcinogenecity denialism (the first organized corporate campaign), anti-vaccination/mercury autism denialism and anti-animal testing/animal rights extremist denialism. Denialism spans the ideological spectrum, and is about tactics rather than politics or partisanship.
We believe there are five simple guidelines for identifying denialist arguments. Most denialist arguments will incorporate more than one of the following tactics: Conspiracy, Selectivity, False Experts, Impossible Expectations/Moving Goalposts, and Argument from Metaphor/violations of informal logic. |

haha -- i took 5 or 6 weather science classes in college right when this was a hot[pardon the pun] topic. some awesome debates in my classes but not enough to convince me anything than what i already knew.
We're at one of the coldest periods in the worlds history, i know al gore and all those guys use time lines dating back 600,000 years but that is a mere fraction of time to look at.
There have been much hotter times before this and tbh a lot of counter-intuitive arguments point to an ice age nearing(as climate tends to spike right before drastic dips).
whatever its a fun topic to have i can't see how people get so wound up about such things. |

| Global warming or not the fact remains that we are ruining the planet for the future generation. The earth is simply running out natural resources as simple as clean water and clean air aka the essentials of life. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I said I didn't care to put any more effort into this than referring you to wiki, hardly that it's the end all, be all of fact.

Oh ... ok. I can provide plenty of examples of FACTUAL information that shoot plenty of holes in the THEORY you are buying into. |
I provided you with plenty of facts, with citations. You can choose whether or not you want to look into them. Go on though, call my "wiki-bluff."
What you're talking about has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, and I can acknowledge that what you're talking about does happen without compromising my position that the practices of humans has accelerated the warming of the planet beyond it's natural processes, at least based on the best historical record we have.
What you're doing is buying into the gross oversimplification of the problem that complete ing morons like you tend to do.
Now then, is anyone else wondering whose alt this is as much as I am?
:conf:
I've rarely seen such epic failure, even on the internet.
And the fact that your only ally is DJ Anthony Ross doesn't really help your case. :stongue: |
